  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Birger Lens Mount Reservations

Interesting. I checked my credit card and I got only charged a small portion of the total. Is that just a great discount you're giving me Erik? :)

We are charging the deposits to make sure all information is correct in the system. We don't really want to take the rest of the money until we are ready to ship each order.

Honestly, I think they are too busy. Erik has been pretty clear that he is overloaded and can't spend much time on the board and PR is taking a back seat to getting the thing completed. As one of the beta testers I have had a number of communications with him and anyone who met him at the NAB knows he is a pretty reasonable guy. This is a pretty intense project by a very small team and there will be features users are going to want even after they initially ship. I think you should be patient and that most of us here want to let him focus on that stuff first.
 
Erik, our card is ready to be charged. You can charge the full amount if you wish(order #107.301029). I also re-faxed the order form with all the changes. Thank you.

The Canon mounts haven't yet shipped. Hopefully they'll be shipping soon. Anyone had any shipping/delivery notice yet?
Now, Erik, can you please give us Nikon mount rez holders an update on any progress with the mount? How far along is the Nikon mount? Thank you.
 
Seriously though, I've got a RedOne paperweight that needs to get off the desk and into the field. I can't do anything with it until the Birger mount ships, as I have only EF lenses on hand.

In particular, 4th of July is coming up and I'd like to get some RedOne coverage of the event. Is the Birger mount going to ship before July? If not, I need to know now so that I can figure out alternatives.
 
I would take any guess with a (huge) grain of salt. But the release is definitely close, much closer than about a year ago when the mount was supposed to be delivered a month later...

I dare predict that the Birger will be out by the time I get my camera...

As of the 4th of July, my heart tells me: yes, you'll have your Birger. But my gut tells me to have alternatives in place.

Ah, the naïveté of youth.

I remember the eve of NAB, when we were all so sure that the mount would be shipping any day. After all, what other delays could there be? He was demonstrating a finished product! All the parts were in-hand! The paperwork was getting done! Soon, Erik said, "we should be able to close out this thread."

The memory is so vivid, like it was only two months ago...

Alternatives are a good bet. I picked up a few Zeiss ZF lenses for the Nikon mount and liked them so much I cancelled the Birger.

I'll check back later in the year and see how they are doing.

Kris, it's anywhere between "any day now" and "who knows". This mount seems to be perpetually delayed. The mount will be a game-changer when - and I have to stress the when - it gets out.

That said, there has been talk of people cancelling their orders, as they got tired of waiting and waiting and waiting.

It's a pity, as I see a lot of good-will going to waste.

I'm awaiting an answer to a Red/Contax mount. If the Birger is not out by the time I get my camera, I will go that route.
