  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

I've been out of touch for the last week or so, but the only change I know about is Erik swapped a couple of contacts on the circuit board so the 4 pin cables could be wired straight through, not sure if that was before the one he sent to Jarred, but that is a pretty minor change - made to make it safer since the cables didn't have to be plugged into a particular end.

Jarred: Does the installation of the i pins or the new audio board include a change to the i/data cable?

BTW, I am willing go down one in the line for Mike so he gets fast tracked for the Birger, Everyone agree? Erik can you fast track Mike if everyone is willing?

We had a slightly larger fallout than we expected from two of the components. Production quantites of both fixed components are in house, so there is nothing to be worried about. No point in sharing the blow by blow of the last few days, except to say that we are gradually shipping more units, and do not see any hurdles left in getting the rest of this batch out the door.

I would assume that the "blow by blow" you speak of would include the change that was alluded to by Jared, meaning that you're still on track with what you stated here. Would that be accurate? Saturday has obviously come and gone, but an update would still be greatly appreciated.
 
Yes please--some updates.

I'm order #107.280111, have received emails from Amy and authorized remaining $$$. I leave for a 6 week shoot in Africa on Sept 1 -- 2 weeks from right now.

I'm running out of time to engage some form of plan B (get RED's nikon mount and start buying old nikon lenses??? i don't know... c'mon Erik!!! you can do it!!!).

updates here (or email or pm) would be hugely helpful for me.

by the way--good luck Mike Hedge; i feel your pain!!

I sent Jarred an email last week stating the following "When you get a chance, please send that mount we gave you back for an upgrade. Want to make sure you have exactly the same as the final production version. We further reduced inrush current, and if memory serves, your mount does not have a programmed radio."

This could be the only possible source of any suggestion that we made changes after the approval process... All boards have been in house since the beginning of last week. We are in production. Rollout has been a few days slower than expected, as we automated some of the testing.

There are mounts in the field. There will be many more shipping between now and wednesday. Please hold tight until your tracking number has been emailed, or wednesday comes around. Please realize that we rolled out this new version of our product to REDusers, and our existing customers simultaneously. Our existing customers aren't going to be posting on REDuser.

OK Redusers, hold on to your socks. This thing is mighty sexy looking. I'm not doing the install until tomorrow, but I know everyone would be excited to know these SUPER BAD MOTHERS are shipping. I'll post tomorrow after installation and trying all my lenses. I'm looking forward to using that 85mm 1.2L. But just looking at this mount, REALLY, REALLY SEXY!

That to me is a change... when current changes and things are added. Again.. we arn't concerned about it as I am comfortable that Erik knows what he is doing, I just wanted to make sure everyone knew we had nothing to do with this last delay as suggested.

Glad they are shipping.

I think we're all aware that the vast bulk of any delays lay in Birger's court. But if quality requires delays then that's what's going to happen. Let's just move forward!

Great News Mark,

Did you actually recieve a tracking number or did it just arrive on the doorstep?

Just wondering as I'm also in the first batch of shipping mounts and I haven't heard anything yet.
 
I was one of the original beta testers so I have maintained close communication with Erik. Yes, I got an email but not as part of the general release. But according to Erik's last post, lots of units are begining to ship. Happy days. Aqua, what cause can we take up after Erik gets all his mount delivered? I don't know about you, but I think it's time to make my movie.
