  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Beta Camera Build 3.2.8

Gyro ! 1K WS ! Phantom Power ! great stuff! but best of all:

my tokina 11-16 now autofocusses perfectly! thanks RED you made my day! and here I was hoping to get to bed early. . .
 
Just did some very very brief tests. I noticed on the power menu that it now also seems to tell you the minutes remaining as well as percentage, which is fantastic.

For those curious, the 1K resolutions read in Premiere Pro as:

1K WS = 1280x480 (Max FPS seems to be 120fps)
1K HD = 1280x720 (Max FPS seems to be 89fps)

I thank you and my pix240 thanks you. Now I don't have to buy a used F3 or get in line for a c300.

Are HDMI 1080p24, etc. resolutions coming in the next build?

Now who was skeptic again because of 1K? ;)

I'll take 720p slo mo any day - until I got enough dough in the bank for the epic ;)
hmmmm, did I already say thank you jarred! this is christmas in the middle of the year. brand new camera! and whoever did the work on the UI - good work guys!

Is there somewhere listed for reference proper procedure for using Phantom Power with the Scarlet. Or is there a failsafe in place? Excuse my lack of knowledge on the topic.

Support ticket time. Log saved. Anyone else seen anything weird? This update was done as per the book, no side handle. Going to try rollback to production build.

Just did a test as well, 120 FPS looks glorious!!!

I had an issue updating as well, came out with color bars on my Scarlet and wouldn't let me re-upgrade properly. Also limited 4K to 8 and 12FPS which was weird, as that is obviously a 5K thing....I just went back to the default factory settings in the menu, and that cleared everything up. Strange, but whatever works!!!
 
I'm black shading at the moment, but appears the custom key preset menu has changed rather dramatically and it won't import Side Handle key presets from previous versions.

OK I reproduced it. Installed production 3.0.7, everything was fine. Phew! Re-installed 3.2.8 - colour bars again. Did a default reset, works fine with 3.2.8 now.

Suggest the factory reset needs to be documented in release notes!

maybe a pattern - back a few pages another Scarlet user reported this... don't know if he fixed it... hope so, as it sound like there might be some oddities going on if people have customized anything away from factory presets.

I wonder if this is a general trend fot updates that don't work (ie factory is fine - but user changed versions might not update correctly).

This could call for another simple upgrade step - to set the camera (Epic/Scarlet) back to 'factory' before upgrading... or to force it back to factory before the upgrade happens.

Just thoughts really, as i watch this thread :)

Can't update as i don't have my Epic ATM.

Mike - was just typing my longer version of this :)

Seems like this should be something that's done as a matter of course.

Makes sense really, as it returns the body to a 'known state'.
 
Thanks for the factory reset suggestion... didn't get false colors but my fps was stuck at 120fps for all formats.
