  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Anyone got skin tone samples shot with Dragon OLFP 2 and RedDragon color/gamma?

Hi Matt,

I don't see the humor here.

I have seen so many posts about, your grades being preferred to many others, over years, that you, I am sure have been hired out, for color grading. Of course, grades are like any other artistic endeavor, but the commonality of you getting both accolades and enquiries regarding your technique for grading, is very strong. And I can't remember anyone posting displeasure, with a grade that you posted. Just Sayin'. Please continue the great work!

Thank you very much

Fury

Agreed. Matt's grades are AWESOME!!!

Fresh off the sensor this morning when the DRAGON arrived. Little hard to keep a kid in focus when he heard the word "no"

BTW, Matt and I apologize for the OT question, You must have one helluva Grading suite. Could you perhaps detail here or elsewhere, how your suite is constructed and the accouterments , as well as all the specialty equipment?

Thank you very much

Fury

Hey Fury,

No fancy setup, just a rMBP running Resolve 11. I call it the suitcase workflow since you can pack it up and take it anywhere. Exports take some time without a RRX but I can deal with overnight exports if it means I can be more portable. Actually haven't even brought out the 30" ACD and Mac Pro tower in a while. No need to really since I get the same results with this setup. I calibrate my rMBP display monthly to maintain consistency.

Too bad my red rocket is collecting dust since it doesn't work on Dragon footage :(

Did a little Dragon vs Epic MX test tonight, this is a still of dragon at 250iso.

I'm up late working on things.

Here's one of my ugly mug. Epic Dragon 6K HD Schneider Cine-Xenar III 95mm around T3.2.

DEB + ADD? Looks really clean.

Just DEB. She's my new friend. I've spent a lot of time with her these last two weeks. A whole lot.

To add, the above was ISO 320 at 5:1.

This next shot is ISO 800 with the Voigtlander 35mm f/1.2 wide open at 15:1.

I should add I am using DEB and Post:Look:Effects:Sharpen on both of this. Just a hair.

Nice Phil. I wish RED would develop a DEB version for the MX sensor (crossing fingers)

What do you use for calibrating your rMBP? Thinking about getting one soon

A belated +1 about Matt's grades. If you aren't already, you really should be a colourist.

Thanks man, for now it's just a hobby. Never been paid to do it.

I use a Spyder Pro 4. Used the 3 before that. Have always gotten good results with it so I haven't used the other options out there.

I've been too busy having so much fun with my Dragon the past month, but I thought I would contribute something I shot just yesterday for those lovely Dragon skintones...
