  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Another update...

Are you guys also making a ton of SSD's and RedVolt batteries to go along with all those cameras? I'm in Stage 2 and I'm worried about having a camera with no power or Mags to go with it!

Hi Kaya,

We are looking at the logistics of that right now - freight, import duties etc
Hopeful that Stage 2 and Stage 3 deliveries to EU customers will be able to complete via RED Europe.
No promises...
Stage 4 orders for sure through here.

Yes please! If I'm not mistaken that could save us loads of money; which we will then obviously be able to spend on accessories!!!

That is my worry as well....

most epic-m's are powered through an adaptor cable with red bricks.
so only ssd's should come along the epic on delivery. plus the redstations of course :)

This would qualify as a "huge surprise"!

Please let it be possible, I dont want to go to jail for customs-rage.

The basic EPIC-X package for stages 2 & 3 includes 2 batteries & charger. So they'll come with it. The listing I've seen says that EPIC-X ships with a CF module as standard, not SSD - but given the direction RED is taking I expect that to be changed.

I bought my SSD REDstations as soon as they were announced :-)

Wishing I'd ordered some media at the same time now! :-(

yeah i think the explanation of the stages that you're looking at is that over a year old one, everything has switched to the SSD's

if you haven't already, you should order the media and get in line. I did the same.

Yes. We have a whole whack load Of SSD's being assembled right now.. and batteries are just waiting on firmware testing.. both should start shipping out again next week. ( Epic-M owners get priority on the Batteries of course )

We will have enough to satisfy a normal demand.. but the orders coming in seem to indicate people are " stocking up " like its the end of the world.. so im sure there will be a bit of a roller coaster ride in availability over the next while.

The Scarlet deal is correct, and looks pretty unattractive to me, I can't imagine many people would go for that given the incredibly generous deal RED have offered with EPIC.

Mike

If you ask me.. every deal we are offering is attractive :)

Actually no, the announcement I saw said if you don't complete the deal within 30 days, you lose all upgrade rights on that body for ever.

Mike
Jarred, is this true in re: Stage 3? I thought that was only for Stage 2 and that we could choose to trade in on a future released brain only if we don't execute in Stage 3.

Yes, I can see where even the Scarlet deal (with modules) could be very attractive to some who are happy with an MXed R-1.

Someone from RED mentioned that the SSD module is standard on EPIC-X. Is it guaranteed that EPIC-X (Stage 2) will ship with at least one SSD if I order SSD's now? I‘d like to order the 256 GB SSD version.

Jarred, is this true in re: Stage 3? I thought that was only for Stage 2 and that we could choose to trade in on a future released brain only if we don't execute in Stage 3.

'Execute' in REDspeak means 'complete the purchase process for a deal you've signed up to and paid a deposit for'.

Jarred may be able to clarify, but the wording is:

"If you choose Stage Three and do not execute your purchase in 30 days from notification that your order is ready, you forfeit all future trade-in rights to your RED ONE."

Which is pretty unambiguous to me. And perfectly fair; in plain language, don't piss us around by reserving a camera then changing your mind!

Now, if, when you say 'don't execute in Stage 3' you mean 'don't place an order for ANY upgrade program to EPIC, just keep using your RED ONE', with a view to hopefully trading in on some as-yet unannounced future brain (e.g. FF35 Monstro), Jarred answered when I asked this very question recently:

Was unaware of that "all things subject to" change. Thanks for the link.

edit: I wish these changes in policy would be posted in a conspicuous place so we didn't have to read every thread, no matter its importance.

I think we should speculate more.
