Thank you Jim for quick response. Just ordered the 256 GB SSD.

Don't worry... when your Stage 2 ships, SSDs will come with it.
Jim
EPIC-M are not full featured... but have most of what you want.
...
All features will not be available for early EPIC-X and upgrades will come as they are enabled.
Jim
Before you think about placing an order for a machined EPIC-M, here are some things you need to know.
Some features are being disabled for stability on the EPIC-Ms until the production EPIC-Xs are released. Then a firmware upgrade will turn these features back on.
1. Audio
2. Playback
3. eHDR™™ (HDRx™™ will be enabled and is the professional solution)
4. Various lower resolutions... but all 5K options will be enabled.
Again, we will turn these options back on when the production cameras ship (or sooner).
Jim
It never fails to amaze me to see the founder of one of the most important companies in a major industry...heck TWO companies in TWO major industries, answering his customers questions on a forum at 4 in the morning.
If I ever become successful, I can only hope to have the class and humility that you display, Jim.

The basic EPIC-X package for stages 2 & 3 includes 2 batteries & charger. So they'll come with it. The listing I've seen says that EPIC-X ships with a CF module as standard, not SSD - but given the direction RED is taking I expect that to be changed.

Hi Mike,
I don't mean any disrespect when I say this, but when you re-quote RED info can you please link back to the post you're referring to? It gets to be a massive case of "chinese whispers" unless you do because you're quoting RED info through your interpretation of it. It gets confusing.
Personally I would not be speculating on anything and if it's not speculation, I want to see the quote from Jim or Jarred. There's just too much going on for anyone to take anything else as gospel.
Hope that makes sense.
I agree with this. While Mike is providing a service that Joseph Hutson once did before Ketch Rossi whisked him off to tour the U.S. and soon to Italy, Joseph always posted a link and never took ownership of the information he was providing.Hi Mike,

Kris,
It's been quoted numerous times already, but maybe I should have done so again when providing the above info: the source for the latest (subject to change etc. as always!) EPIC stage info and specs is:

No speculation.

Right now it is impossible to predict dates on the removable lens Scarlet as there are so many variables in play and our team is focusing to work on resolving the logistics and shortages for Epic-X and Scarlet 8x. There are alot of "little" bits that come from Japan that have proven to be a bit of a shocker.. from the epoxy inside circuit boards to small components. Apart from prices of those parts doubling in price every few days, just getting them is going to be a constant battle.
We are doing our best to mitigate.. and we have found some creative ways to resolve, but right now its best to just keep your eye on here to see where we are, Jim is committed to letting you guys know when we know. Just please understand that since we are moving in realtime and posting updates in realtime, things can and likely will change as we move through the next month or two.
But the Scarlet Cinema would be a replacement to the Arri SR, and would allow 16mm filmmakers to use their favorite lenses.
I have no idea which is the bigger market, but I'm sure there is a market for the Scarlet Cinema.
If Red can produce a good set of Mini-primes, great.
But there are tons of good existing lenses out there for 16mm cameras in PL mount, and a few decent lenses for HD cameras in the C-mount.
I understand that everyone at Red is hard at work on the Epic roll-out, but please let us know where the Scarlet Cinema program is at the moment.
How about a Scarlet M?
Thanks.
Paul
