  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Another update...

Scarlet-F updates at NAB ? I hope it's not postponed too much.

Expect Stage 2 to be completed by June. Stage 3 to be completed by July/August.
Jim

I thought stages where different pakages and options (keep or not your RED ONE...).

Will serial n*350 stage 3 be delivered after n*8500 stage 2?

Thanks

Patrick

Just hoping to work with Epic beginning June... :rolleyes5:

From the beginning, the Stages have been sequential, Stage 2 requiring an earlier commitment and more money. However, the Stage 2 list on this forum is not long, and it appears there won't be a huge difference in delivery schedule. (If the components are available). It appears from Jim's comments here that the new assembly line will have significantly higher weekly output than the Red One rollout.

I have a project planned for late autumn, and I hate the thought of having to use any other camera but the 8x fixed.

Same here, but my next project is planned in august. But let's face it, I won't be RED "ready" at that time.

Dear Jim, Dear Red Team,

I know this is a point which has been discussed a few times, sometimes with a good deal of sarcasm, but here is a sincere question.

A lot of us have been supporting and championing red and everything you do, although we're not in the market of owning a red one, or for that matter an epic.

I wonder if those people could be somewhat preferred when it comes to the fixed lens scarlet, as opposed to existing epic customers. I know this is a bold request, but since you've been so exceptionally upfront and fair to your customers, maybe this is something you could take into account.

As much as something like this sounds good, I think it would be impossible to know and to draw the line at who was an avid Red support and who was not. I'm sure most of us long time Red Supporters watch and listen closely enough that we will be ready to get our orders in as soon as they open. Aside from that, Red has already shown loyalty beyond belief with it's actions this year. When the time comes I'm sure everything will be fair and every owner will be VERY HAPPY.

Personally, I can't wait for NAB and hopefully some hands on time with the Scarlet, getting to hold an Epic at last year's Red was fantastic, even if only for a few seconds ;) Although with so much going on at the Red Booth, who know how we'll have time to see the many other great products and booths at the event. A good problem to have I guess.

Can Pre- orders of EPIC-S be made at NAB ( in person or online )?

It seems clear that RED's production capacity for both EPIC and Scarlet is going to be much greater than they have previously had for RED One, if they feel that they can fill all existing Stage 2, Stage 3 and any forthcoming NAB orders for EPIC-X by September. I don't think that those of us who are waiting for EPIC-S or Scarlet Fixed should worry about where we will be in line...I have a feeling those models will be available in large quantities once they are ready to be released.

this is top news!
SSD`s along and i am happy.

I can wait for the I/O module and EVF.
You can shoot without them. Spiderman shows it.

Expect Stage 2 to be completed by June. Stage 3 to be completed by July/August. All orders at NAB to be completed by September.

Scarlet fixed updates at NAB.

Jim

Sounds like it will be shipped after summer :(

Sorry to add another question, but have there been any thoughts on when the red one needs to be handed in for stage 3, meaning: will there be a long time gap in between sending the Red One and receiving the Epic? (because of possibly important work during august)
best regards,
Hans

Thanks for all the updates. Changing the world of cinema and keeping up with world distastes are two major things. Red is doing a great job.
See you at NAB.

I would look at Stage 2 to be shipped by May/June.

Jim

Thanks Jim. My timing is bad. I'm shooting in Italy in mid May, sounds like my #683 stage 2 will arrive just after I return. And thanks again for the above information, this really helps put a target on my planning. Any really early stage 2ers interested in renting their week old camera? : )
