  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Announcing the RED TOUCH 7" @IBC14

The 7" Hoodman H-R7 fits perfectly for anyone looking for a sun shade for their new 7" touch screen.

Funny how after using the 7inch for a while you get used to it and when you go back to the 5inch it feels really tiny when you navigate the menus.
Guess it's the same once you get an iPhone 6+ and use a 5 after that.

I still like the 5inch a lot for compact setups but focusing, framing and exposing on the 7inch is just a million way better.

Just got my shipping notice...ordered it on the first day that ordering was available.

just bought, should have done it sooner, hopefully it won't take too long

Try doing it with the 9", the 5" is downright puny. The 7" is definitely the sweet spot.

Got my 7" today. Red definitely got it right on this monitor. very impressed.

Great to hear the positive feedback, guys, thank you. Makes the effort more than worth it!

Apologizing, if already posted, but just checked with RED and they are not offering or aware of a Hood for the 7" touchscreen that utilizes the 4, corner threaded holes on the frame. Does anyone know of an upcoming product from RED or third party, that would utilize these orifices...?

Thank you very much

Fury

I think it's time to share the simplest and cheapest way to make a DIY monitor hood.

Get a Polypropylene Board, you can pick it up at most art supply stores.
It cost about $6, you can cut it in the shape of your desired hood with a box cutter.
Use two stripes of Velcro to attached it to the side and in the case of the 7" screen two screws on top.
Its lightweight, water resistant and its dirt cheep. I have cut those for every type of screen from 5" to 50" in less than 15min.
Oh and it folds flat.

Cheers. ///

Nice one James he he...
I used the same trick for making flags for the mattebox when the one we rented didn't come with it or when I needed something custom as a flag.
Cheap and all around great!

Few Polypropylene Boards and some gaffer tape, go a long way. ; )

I was using it in Flip mode for a shoot and noticed that all the footage is also flipped. Easily correctable in Redcine, but is there a way to flip the monitor without the Meta Data flipping the footage?

Bob, noted and firmware gurus already on it.
