  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Announcement - www.DigitalCinemaLessons.com

Great idea!
I would like to see some green screen shooting pointers
and real world examples using After Effects.
Thanks

Both good ideas. Thanks.

Obin Olsen will be doing a series of Adobe videos. What specifically would you like to know about green screen shooting? The lighting, or the post end?

I think Chris' idea for this is way cool...

This is a really diverse team of instructors - and I'm happy to be a part of it. Collectively we should be able to cover about every niche, style, and workflow that can be done with RED One - and the future RED cameras too.

It shouldn't come as any surprise that I will focus right down into my favorite lightweight camera setups and techniques - hybrid style, and non-hardlined EFP style.

I do real mobile non-hardlined broadcast and feature 2nd unit work with RED One. Expect videos covering that. It will be about a month before I find the time to post up my first RED One video - but for those interested in mobile hybrid and EFP production, I believe you'll be stoked when I start posting up my videos.

I received my first RED One (#8) at the very first RED Day (7/30/07), and my other two RED cameras a few weeks later. Thanks to RED's customer loyalty, the earliest RED camera receivers will get first crack at Epic and Scarlet. As soon as I receive my first Epic and Scarlet cameras I'll hit the ground running, get them into my field work styles, and see what they can do. Expect to see some quick turnaround of my first videos on Epic and Scarlet, including previews of lenses and accessories in real-world use, setup concepts, shooting techniques, and just lots of really cool video pieces!

I agree with Chris about this new approach complimenting Jay Kelly's RED 101 DVD - and I really think there is more than enough room in the RED training zone for both video approaches. I contribute to both - and I recommend both.

If you approach your training in this industry correctly, the more you learn, the more it should simply remind you that the learning curve is never-ending...all of us have to be continual knowledge sponges to keep pace with this fast-moving business. But...that's the beauty of it...we all get to constantly learn...pretty cool I'd say! :)

Thanks to Chris for putting this all together, initially my focus will be on AVID and the various workflows and options surrounding it but very quickly will be branching out into other tech and software.
stoked for this get rolling and there will def be a huge ramp-up I think when EPIC and Scarlet make their appearance(s).

I tried to order yesterday but my PayPal account is not working right now and waiting for their reply.

is it something on your end sanjin, or on ours? we are showing that you got to the paypal stage and then the order did not process. we have, however, delivered succesfully to users in portugal, USA, england, canada, and other places. yours is the only one that did not go through completely. if it is a problem on our end, let me know and we will work on it. thanks.

Im a big fan of education being free & @ $3 a tutorial it basically is , Fantastic Resource! Having said that, Over 50years combined Red experience at your finger tips is Invaluable!
I'm sure this will be a great success and a Red 101.It's great you've all been able to collaborate on this ...Admiration & Thanks to all involved ! Looking forward to some Schooling :)

It was working for years without any problem and they suddenly in last months changed security. Now I missing my PyPal code. Also communication with PayPal already takes weeks to activate it again. Even if I change credit card is the same... just a big frustration.

sorry to hear that sanjin. it is set up through paypal so that even if you don't have a paypal account you should be able to complete the purchase with a credit card. although i do know how frustrating paypal can be sometimes. ugh.....

anyways, the response so far has been fantastic. we have already sold videos to people in the UK, USA, Canada, Austria, Portugal, and Norway.

what you are seeing on the site now is a SMALL bunch of videos, just to get started. the instructors have some amazing releases planned that will hit over the next month or so. if you want to keep up to date on new releases, you can follow our twitter feed at:

http://twitter.com/dcinemalessons

We will announce new releases there. Cheers....

all we ask is that you don't pass them around. if you want the prices to stay down where they are, please just recommend the site to others. if people were to start downloading the files and passing them around, we won't stick around long.

we are putting the trust in users to make sure this doesn't happen. we definitely wanted to give our customers maximum flexibility, and we certainly don't mind if you were to load the videos into your iTunes and put them on your iPod/iPhone so you can have them wherever you go. We encourage that.....we just hope everyone respects what we are doing and the prices we are offering, by NOT giving them away to others, and by supporting us by buying your own.......

Brilliant idea. I'll make use of this immediately. Thank you for doing this.

FYI, there is a new video now online. michael cioni has posted his first Digital Cinema Lesson. And it is very very good.

His first video will appeal to all people who shoot and/or post RED. It takes a very good look at the theory and technology behind MONITORING. Both on set and in post. This video should appeal to DPs, Directors, DITs, Colorists, and even Producers, as it covers one of the most frequently asked questions in the RED world.....How does the monitoring work?

Anyways, congrats Michael on getting your first video up. Here is the link (you'll have to register for an account to buy):

http://www.digitalcinemalessons.com/products_new.php (should be at the top of this 'new videos' list.

Alternatively, you can find it in the 'Other' Category, or by 'Searching all Videos by Michael Cioni' in the 'Instructors' page.

More videos coming VERY soon......stay tuned.

Both, I have done some green screen work with other cameras but will be doing more with RED as time goes on.

This is a very cool idea.. I'll have some videos for this soon.. There were a few topics we wanted to hit over here but did not fit the DVD. So this could be a good place for that.

Well done Chris!

Jay
