  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

amazing new shoulder rig

Since when is the clutch $7,000?

No you're absolutely right if u compare and my guess is ure talking about our ultimate solution? Well if you do and you gather the same amount of equipment, which includes te clutch

You're actually more like $9500+

So ure right they're not comparable

What are is our complete solution for $3499

Thanks

I'm not sure if I understand any of what you just said.... would you please be more clear?

I was referring to the post I quoted, where the guy says $3500 is half the price of a clutch... which is not true. Where does the $9500 fit in? Very confusing, Fredrik.

Hi guys,

I'm sorry I'm not on this thread that much, but I'm actually preparing for NAB and are on the road to Vegas. I wish you would read what it includes as you're right the first time and that your assumption - that it would be to good to be true - is wrong lol. Yes it's everything you see in that picture, so also including top plate. It also clearly states what the different solutions etc are underneath the pictures. It might be somewhat confusing and if you truly look at it - maybe to good to be true - but it's not. Yes that solution includes a top plate + both qr designed evf and monitor arm. And the evf or monitor solution includes single qr arm design - WITH top plate.

Take a time to look them through and read what they contain - I'd think you'd be pleasantly surprised :).

As for NAB - we just boarded for LA - so we're on our way. It's proto types - unfortunately we didn't get to come with latest design as they're still being tweaked - but we wanted to show this as we are seein there's a little confusion in what it actually is. It's more than just handheld - its everything needed on your camera - and that's in a package smaller than just a handhel rig from mist other manufacturers lol.

It's hard to explain so please come and see for yourself we will be there

Ö

I wasn't trying to give you a hard time lol, it is a little confusing though. On the top handle page it has a ton of pictures with the handle, top plate, dovetail rodbrackets, the 2 rail brackets, and 4 double dovetail rails and says Buy for $999 USD. If you click on the link it shows the top handle solution is actually $1299 and only includes the handle, 2 rodbrackets, 2 railbrackets, and 4 dovetail rails - no top plate. I don't know if I"m just reading this wrong or what.

I wasn't talking about the EVF/monitor solution, I was referring to the Top handle solution.

Anyways, it still looks pretty nice so I'll keep watching for developments.

Hi,

I'm sorry been traveling to LA and been trying to follow the thread on the iPhone all stressed between flights. I just misunderstood and thought you were referring to our Ultimate solution to be comparable to the clutch, which it of course is not as there is the kind of pricing that I mention will take place if you try to build up to the same equipment elsewhere.

So my apologies

Hi Ryan,

I'm sorry it's been quite stressful trying to catch planes here - so I misunderstood your question. You're right there's a mistake there and it should be $999, but it does not include a top plate though LOL - It could for $1299 though, as our top plate will be $300

Anyway - there's been a lot of confusion to say the least - around these solutions and the pricing. So we're discussing wether we should take out the solutions after NAB and our preorder part. So people can customise as they please and order different parts separately instead and we will not try to offer the bundles/ solutions. We simply started with a preorder for people to have that option and the web store would have been more customised when it's up and running, but maybe we shouldn't make solution prices as they strangely enough seem to confuse more than help.

Hi Bob,

Well you're right real shooters need real products and not teasers. Our product is finally coming around and we are to be at NAB to show proto types. There's still a few things that are being sorted out, but they show what it is we're up to. So you're more than welcome to come by booth C7809 for a look. Our production line proto's are close to be finished - we wished they would have been done in time for NAB, but unfortunately that's not the case - a few last minute design corrections (some not to infringe on other standards etc) has been made and it will be finished for final production after NAB though.

As for us teasing - well understand we are eager to let people know what we're up to and to restrain that was to hard. We simply couldn't resist.

If you could make a video, I'd take a serious look for our next purchase.

there are going to be separate items being sold , that make sense on making something you feel confortable with.
I still think that this rig is made to fit, and you can start at a very simple configuration and build on.
its not just a couple pf plates, couple of brackets and 2 handles. Its made in its total of 72 diffrent parts that can be configured to make various sets.
when the guys come back from NAB I will show you at least 5 different ways of different sets that can suit any requiremnet.
The new designed parts (not shown at NAB) will be standard for the production kits and more new stuff to come.
we will also try and break everything into single units for the parts that make sense to be bought and be usefull for 3d party configs.
its all very exiting and I have worked 24/7 to design and redesign this rig, so to get it to max .
It would be very easy for me to design , a couple of plates with a t-bar and a couple of harware handles , and just sell for 1000-1500 usd.
But I prefer innovation and believe that originality and finess on cinegear, as well as quality must be justifying the price behind the equipment.
we already patented many small tricks, and many more to come.
Fredrick is correct, ypu get a much cheaper rig , in sisde by side comparisson, with even more options that our previus competitors , saving at least 900 $
we will however try and make this simple for you to see, as we havent finished our website, and it might be confussing at present time, but expect this after NAB.
Anders and Fred will be there to explain all , so come by and see what the deal is.
Thank you all for your compliments

There's a video on the website, in case you missed it - it shows exactly how the parts fit together and QR between each other.

Real life videos will be made after NAB as we're settling in with all of it - but the website is quite illustrated in how things are.

Hello. Well the start is always the difficult one.
we have also decided to start production with the New designs , some of them you can see them at the website concidering the tooless dovetail brackets and connection plate,
and with that addition, everything is now changing to be more modular, and people should be able to get the units of the self and make the best combination for their needs.
They can configure and make combinations of just about everything, choosing to swap from 19mm to 15mm, or studio 15, or have all options there to use when needed but with out having to fiddle about with screw drivers or allen keys.
Having a rig that is flexible and modular is the key.
I also do not really agree when I see pictures of rigs that are mounted on tripod, with handles hanging out on the front, and shoulder pads being extended at the back.
On tripod operation the operator has to have the freedom to move the camera at the 2 axis freely with out any arrms sticking out and things being in the way , specially when you tilt on lower height tripod levels.
And that is the reason why I have designed the Titan to be able to remove the handles with a snap of a lever , remove the shoulder pad with a snap of a lever and just slip in an arri compatible plate.
This can happen in second s and you have a decent rig on sticks with all the rods and lens gear you need with out removing it.
Also the same can be applied on steadicam, as all you need is an arriplate to e mounted on the steadicam dovetail plate. You just slip the titan in it you trim for balance and you are set.
I have been operating steadicam, robotic cranes, and gyrocams for over 20 years now, and being an extreme shooter , makes me take things like this very seriously , as they have to work as they should .
Yes vids will be made dont worry, and you will see how many configs are there, and to also serve additional gear and not only battery plates.
thank you all for your interest.

Could be good news for those of us that can't afford the whole rig but would like to at least use some of the components on existing rigs.
thanks!

No worries - all that happens will be that you wish you hadn't invested in all that other gear LOL
I'm coming from a very different direction than Mark, who is a few light-years ahead of me in experience.

I have never used a rig before, so I have zero parts.

But, unfortunately, at the moment I also have zero-rig-knowledge, other than the many threads I've been reading on this forum.

What I find useful are videos that show step by step how to move from tripod to shoulder, and point out all the neat features and WHY these are neat features, WHY this is better than a competing product.

Some FAQs - Rigs-for-dummies, would be very helpful.

You have a lot of great features, but ... at the moment, I'm trying to learn what a great feature is, and what a pain-in-the-ass feature might be. That's tough to do without actually using the rigs.

And also, all the "gotcha's" I might encounter. I've got to put the battery somewhere, press the record button somehow, see using an LCD, avoid straining my neck (at 56, age is catching up with me), deal with moving the rig 100 yards (take it off shoulder and use top handle?), pack up the units to move off location. I've got so many small details to work thru in my head?

I'm not sure if I"m your target market, but I'm willing to pay for well built equipment if I can see a reason.

Hi Stu,

Certain things can be used and others you might have to make a little DIY to fit with.

It's hard to make design this innovative and modular plus at the same time adapt it for what used to be. We wish we could have and we've tried as much as possible.

For example - our QR platform can be used as a stand alone - this is a great advantage as it can go from any standard in no time. So can our Top mount solution. Our EVF and monitor arms with QR rail base design are made to be with the telescopic feature - but if you don't need the telescopic feature you will be able to buy the arms + Qr rail bases separately and then you can screw our QR rail base (with a little DIY) onto the side on your top plate - that you have and you can slide EVF/monitor arm onto their instead (no telescopic feature but the rest would be there). This is a little DIY of course as it's not something we offers right now, maybe we'll adda QR rail base in th future that's 100% stand alone.

You can't use our top handle and dovetail rod brackets without our rails - these are specially made so it can connect and lock/unlock with each other - there's safety features being designed in and so on which doesn't exist with the other designs - BUT you can get these items separately and add to your already existing.

Our front handle system can be used separately as long as you get a dovetail bracket to connect it with - You can then add the dovetail rod bracket onto your rods and simply slide on/off the front handle system.

Our Shoulder pad and it's shoulder adjustment system can only be at present time used with our QR platform - this is to hard to deliver with the low centre of gravity etc without it - BUT we can work on designing one that can work with many other - Only thing is it will not have the same low CG etc - We can design wonders, but we're not gods LOL.

There's a lot of possibilities to use our stuff outside of our gear - but remember our design is a lot smaller - A LOT - and we can not answer for others and their design so some features that we're mentioning will in no way be possible.

Les C,

I hear you - and believe me our design is idiot proof - it's what we've designed it for - if it's idiot proof it will be 100 times faster for the Pro to piece together. As for feature etc - of course we see ourselves to be far more innovative than others - but we have really been looking out of the box to make our design. You see it's so simple yet delivers so much - that it seems incredibly high tech as someone earlier on this thread mentioned our rig as. Well, to use it it's not. It's like lego for 5 year olds. Click and go - plug and play.

Now as for our features - here's what we've done - we've taken everything that's important into consideration - balance - speed - simplicity - comfort - form - functionality and then on top said how do we create all that in a smaller package - a lot smaller - so it's way lighter than anyone else

We have also in our frustration with balance on other rigs - really made it sure that ergonomics - low centre of gravity and that the camera lens is in exact eye line when shooting - That is incredibly important and it's so often disregarded. Well not this time.

So as for Videos - after NAB we'll see what we can do with that - meanwhile have a look at the commercial that you'll find on our website - You'll find it more explanatory than you think and let me explain why - Imagine the camera in-between the two parts hanging in the air - top part is our top mount solution mounted onto the camera top - the lower part is QR platform mounted on the lower part on the camera - the first plate that's slide off is the dovetail plate on the tripod - so that is literally showing it been taken off the tripod (slide it off the dovetail plate mounted onto the tripod)- the rest is self explanatory and 100% accurate and true in how you assemble the rig for different configuration - also realise it's exactly how it's done - with quick release - the commercial is showcasing the rig for real - it's not just an animation - IT IS HOW YOU PUT IT TOGETHER! That's the cool thing - no tools at all - just quick release design.

The thing the commercial doesn't show is our new QR platform design - but if you watch the video a few times - I think you'll start to get a hang of it and you will get how our new QR platform design with it's extremely modular QR design works. Just by checking it out on our website.

In saying that - we'll look into making more videos.

Thanks guys for your interest - I hope to see a lot of you at NAB

Hi Guys,

So I've prepared a few pics for some to see our rig and how it functions. I apologies for the iPhone pics - but we're on the road so bare with us.

Anyway the first pics show the TITAN rig on tripod with 2 dovetail rod brackets attached - You can also have the back rosette bracket solution on if you wish, so there's plenty of options.

First pic is the whole rig with Top mount solution and top handle solution as well. The rods are our Titanium rods that we're about to announce. They're incredibly lightweight and we've made sure they're dimensions are 100% accurate so there's no differentiation at all - they are the size they should be. We've also made cones at the ends so they're an easy fit when slider into the rod brackets. These are features that make a difference - firstly precise diameter on the rods leads to that they fit perfectly into all rod brackets (if they're precise that is LOL). Secondly it's also protected as you are to slide them in and the cone makes it easy to fit them.

Anyway second pic is top handle solution on top mount - you can see me quick release the rod bracket from the top plate and then afterwards Qr the top handle. This makes it easy to just slide of and on top rod brackets onto the top of your camera. You can slim it down by taking them of and just slide the top handle on - or have rods on the top of the camera by sliding them on and then the top handle on top of that - very easy, extremely fast.

Second run is me showing firstly that the friction on the EVF and monitor arms is adjustable and therefor you can adjust to the point were you actually don't have to unlock/lock to move - you simply just push it into position and it will stay there, very neat to say the least :).

After that it's the the QR on the battery plate - this way you can slide the battery up and down and adjust for whatever position you want it in. High for balance when not handheld - or low to counter balance when handheld - I continue to show how you with the QR rail base on (in this case the topside rail mounted directly onto the top plate - as it's with 2 dovetail rod brackets on the QR platform and not with the back bracket rosette mount with a QR side rail attached to the rosette). This allows for you to slide the backbone up and down and adjust position on were you want the battery. The battery plate we're using in this case is a bebop - but you can choose any battery plate you like and mount it.

Then Im showing how you simply open the QR lever on the Qr platform and slide in/out the front handle system - it’s not more difficult than that.

So as you can see that our little commercial on the website and illustrations are as simple as they seem - it’s hard to show this more in detail as it is childishly easy. That’s why it’s difficult to comprehend - it’s just to simple and nothing could be that simple - especially not camera equipment - but now it is LOL.

The rest of the images is the rig with an iPhone for you to be able to see the size of things and how compact it is

Hope this helps a little.

There are some lovely shoulder mounts in this thread. For those of you on a budget please don't stress this shoulder rig business. Many of us A/B camera operators don't use any shoulder rigs at all with only a Panavision pad for shoulder protection. Not even taking off the 19mm bridge plate.

http://www.panavision.co.uk/panastore/default.asp?cid=50&clr=true

A total of £35. Also you don't need flash hand grips. Just hold onto the FF4. This gives you stunning control and keeps your hands in and shoulder bunched so they tire less. As a B operator you often don't get to put a fully loaded 35mm camera down for hours as you just don't know who is checking out your shot.

Granted I would prefer a perfectly balanced shoulder rig but I'll take a shoulder pad and an FF4 any day especially as it means I can place the body perfectly on my shoulder for balance. Balance is THE most important thing for control.

I could not agree more as this was exactly how I shoot handheld in the days when I was DOP - but when also having a rental with RED cameras I needed to get gear and personally got fed up with what's out there - So we started to design from scratch with the needs I felt was important - something that can become a shoulder rig in seconds as if I was just throwing the camera on my shoulder and just held onto the rods - BUT with the comfort of a truly well balanced handheld system.

That's what we're doing here a full rig that's NOT ONLY handheld - it's everything - it's QR platform for tripod - move over to handheld in seconds and have it balanced perfectly on your shoulder. It's top mount solutions such as EVF and monitor mounts and top rod and top handle solutions - ALL IN A MATTER OF SECONDS.

It's been nice to have a lot of people come by and see our proto's hands on and we've got some GREAT feedback on a few improvements we can do, which we're already in the making of implementing.

PETER - we don't have any hands on experience to show you - BUT WE DO HAVE A NO HANDS ON experience to show LOL - so for you Peter and for you Thomas I will upload a little video soon we're it's a no hands on experience on how well balanced our rig can be - then maybe you also will want to come by and have a look Thomas :)

So here we are - a quick and dirty NO HANDS ON!

Playing around at NAB - showing very quickly how well balanced it can be without the need for shoulder pads locking the rig to your body LOL. We're incredibly happy for all the positive feedback and believe us we're already working on a lot of it.

More will come, but for now this will have to do
