  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

amazing new shoulder rig

I really like the LCD and EVF solution, Im soo tired of broken magic arms. The top mount solution looks like it will solve all problems Im currently having with mounting the new touch LCD in a good way.

The whole top solution is a winner. The evf and monitor arms works like a charm. The arms are really light, but rock solid and the qr levers are a beautiful solution - so I think you'll love it. We have ideas for further upgrades in the future, which will make them even more versatile. We just need to get a moment to sit down and R&D a little. Yes we are at booth #C7809 old C4 with mo-sys and the proto's will be there to play with :).

Will post some more pics soon for those who's interested.

I'm not justifying the price but the Clutch may come close to 6K when adding all the stuff the Titan has. But yeah, the whole kit is out of my range for sure.

Far too expensive. Nice to look at though...

Actually, if you're talking about our Ultimate solution and do the math - it's well over $8500 that you would have to pay to be some what similar in equipment (I say similar as our solutions has more options when it comes to flexibility).

Ultimate solution is not only handheld it's everything needed as a full camera solution - both underneath and on top of the camera.

As for our Advanced solution it's not really comparable as we offer connection for both under the camera as well as behind - therefor there's a battery plate included + extra dovetail rod brackets etc that can be used in front on rod system for different solutions - so there's still more options there.

So I believe our pricing is reasonable - especially the bundle pack for the Ultimate solution.

Funny thing is that since this is made to be as light weight and as compact as possible - when you have all the parts out on a table for the Ultimate solution it almost ridiculous in how few parts it is and little it seems. I can tell you for those who order our gear don't be discouraged with how small our boxes are at delivery - it will all be there :)

Here's a few pics of the top mount solution. This shows how compact it is - it delivers the features we are mentioning such as the telescopic EVF/ Monitor adjustment - so you can adjust for your distance to the eye. It can position the EVF/ Monitor around the camera anywhere you please. There's a top plate there and in this case a rod bracket connected to a rail on top - add a rail on the rod bracket and you can attach the top handle on top. Another rail on the other side of the top plate and you can connect either rod bracket #2 or top handle there - all QR release with safety.

Also if you look at the first picture you can spot the back bone connected to our topside rail where the batt plate should be connected (this as an upside - downside feature so you can slide the battery plate up and down for balance - or simply position it close to the camera without needing to remove the red mote, if you please - it's whatever you want). The topside rail connects to top plate for those who don't want to have a rosette bracket in the back on the QR platform - slide the backbone up and down on the rail for balance adjustment on the battery.

As you can see a QR platform underneath and a batt plate are the 2 things missing for it to be an more or less complete camera set up - I hope you can see how compact we've been trying to explain that this is?

Monitors and EVF's are a nightmare on nogu arms ... we have had 2 monitors damaged on red arms. I also want to be forced to have the monitor's horizon always match the cameras...

It is good to see flexible but sensible monitor and EVF mounting..

Hi Fredric ,
Firstly let my appoligize here... This is an open forum so you have to get used to open discussions.
But I am sorry that you think I bringing down your product. For the record I'm not.
Im sure it's worth every cent of R&D design an quality materials, You will find out over time if your product has hit the right notes for consumers, as people vote with there pockets.
Your product looks and sounds fantastic! And so does the RED clutch. I am from the old school were I shot for 15 years with 35mm cameras on my shoulder with a bit of foam under my T Shirt.. And shot great images.. So all these expensive hi tech should rigs are a bit over the top for me even though they are very practical I'm sure. . It's only my humble opinion about what I think a bit of aluminum and foam is actually worth to me. So please don't think I'm bagging your quality product.

Im more a meat and potatoes type of guy and I tend to keep my rigs and gear simple these days. I've been through the gear collection Stage of my life... Thank god!
I will look at your prototype at NAB while I'm there, it may dazzle the pants off me when I see it in the flesh.
Good luck. :))))

I'm with you on the "old school' simplicity. I too came up in film too where we often just grabbed the Panny MB, Aaton handgrip or BL4 grip. No complex rigs. What these cameras had was that they were balanced well right out of the box so to speak. Epic is just a box with lens mount, albeit a mighty powerful box. Nothing about the brain is suited for handheld until you rig it. That said, I too like to keep the rig super simple and the two solutions I've found that get over all the extra gear is just a strap on shoulder pad (goes on faster than a dovetail) and rod mounted or MB mounted grips. I just wish these rig makers would do two things: offset left or right and medium length or better yet, adjustable extensions.

Can you please make some shorter extension arms (half the length pictured) that can go off your rosette mounted rig from the previous pics.
file://localhost/Users/cinetim/Desktop/_MG_9657.JPG

Also, consider a cotton wheel extension (see Ronford Baker site) so we can offset the rig either left or right. The rig pictured above, for me, and many other camera men while well suited for doc or live performance is just too much extension for the narrative work we do. Shorter arms give quicker and more direct control as well as accommodate tight spaces better. Also, having used that model before, it felt a bit too much like the Mantis. While a nice design, didn't have the torsional rigidity I need for quick high action moves.

Thanks.

Hello Ned. Hm where do I see the picture you are mentioning?
anyhow we have a possibility of 35 and 70mm offset on the left by using our rosette adapter cylinders for the back bone to the front in between the connection rosette Y bracket and front left bone.
if that is not enough I will make a larger adapter but the above you can see at Nab.
please post a picture of the link you are mentioning above.
The 3 protos on Nab are early protos and there are more of a dozen mods and updated parts, but we will be love to get your input and we
will carefully adjust everything with your input and trim.
thank you all

Far too expensive....

For rental houses that buy yearly 4 Alexas, 10 Epics, 5 F65, and many, many lenses, plus endless other stuff you want for filmmaking a decent shoulder rig for 10k is not too expensive. It just doesn't need to be good, it must be great. Then they will sell.

We had this discussion a few years ago when people bought their first digital 35mm camera and complained about bad Arri selling a Mattebox for 3k+. No rental house I know is renting out RedRock Matteboxes. Some private owners are happy with them. There are different needs for different markets.

BTW, the bigger rental houses machine their accessories mostly by them selfs, unless someone can make it better.

Low cog?
Over the shoulder in perfect balance?
Or Ninja style front offset camera but with adjustable height for much lower shots or even higher than usual if you are a shot guy?
together with the fully adjustable too-less evf solution you can just be anywhere, lower , center of axis, higher, it doesnt matter. you just swing and go.
Fully adjustable battery mount 2 axis plus slide up and down on rail style to go even higher or lower with your battery plate?
Everything is here.
and on the production there will be about 10 different surprises waiting for you.
thank you

Looks pretty nice... I was going to bite and order the top handle solution for sure (http://www.aeoncine.com/top-handle/) at $999. It looked like it came with the top plate too, but it looks like in the store it's actually $1299 and doesn't include the top plate... blah just too much for me at that price. Great looking stuff though.

Hi guys,

I'm sorry I'm not on this thread that much, but I'm actually preparing for NAB and are on the road to Vegas. I wish you would read what it includes as you're right the first time and that your assumption - that it would be to good to be true - is wrong lol. Yes it's everything you see in that picture, so also including top plate. It also clearly states what the different solutions etc are underneath the pictures. It might be somewhat confusing and if you truly look at it - maybe to good to be true - but it's not. Yes that solution includes a top plate + both qr designed evf and monitor arm. And the evf or monitor solution includes single qr arm design - WITH top plate.

Take a time to look them through and read what they contain - I'd think you'd be pleasantly surprised :).

As for NAB - we just boarded for LA - so we're on our way. It's proto types - unfortunately we didn't get to come with latest design as they're still being tweaked - but we wanted to show this as we are seein there's a little confusion in what it actually is. It's more than just handheld - its everything needed on your camera - and that's in a package smaller than just a handhel rig from mist other manufacturers lol.

It's hard to explain so please come and see for yourself we will be there

Enjoy NAB Fredrik and best of luck - look forward to hearing more details once your back home and working on the System(s?)
Can't begin to afford/justify the whole rig but hoping a few choice bits can be added to my current kit at some point...

there are going to be separate items being sold , that make sense on making something you feel confortable with.
I still think that this rig is made to fit, and you can start at a very simple configuration and build on.
its not just a couple pf plates, couple of brackets and 2 handles. Its made in its total of 72 diffrent parts that can be configured to make various sets.
when the guys come back from NAB I will show you at least 5 different ways of different sets that can suit any requiremnet.
The new designed parts (not shown at NAB) will be standard for the production kits and more new stuff to come.
we will also try and break everything into single units for the parts that make sense to be bought and be usefull for 3d party configs.
its all very exiting and I have worked 24/7 to design and redesign this rig, so to get it to max .
It would be very easy for me to design , a couple of plates with a t-bar and a couple of harware handles , and just sell for 1000-1500 usd.
But I prefer innovation and believe that originality and finess on cinegear, as well as quality must be justifying the price behind the equipment.
we already patented many small tricks, and many more to come.
Fredrick is correct, ypu get a much cheaper rig , in sisde by side comparisson, with even more options that our previus competitors , saving at least 900 $
we will however try and make this simple for you to see, as we havent finished our website, and it might be confussing at present time, but expect this after NAB.
Anders and Fred will be there to explain all , so come by and see what the deal is.
Thank you all for your compliments
