  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

amazing new shoulder rig

Here is a few shots of the evf and top mount with a top monitor solution as well, tat can be very handy for acs and on tripod style.
there is also a adapter mount now on the left6 handle of the rig that allows direct slip on of the monitor mount and monitor in 2 secs and have he monitor in the correct possition to operate if you dont want to use the evf.
And when I say correct I mean fully adjustable tooles choice correct hahaha.
At the production units the telescopic motion of the evf and monitor arms wiill be friction adjustable tooless and with out anything to lock unlock so the front knowbs will not be there anymore.
thank you guys.

another Titan early prototype Rig is flying to Great Britain for testing.
Fitted with a DSMC plate so the back pack and quick plate can be directly mounted on it , as our customer had one of these, so I made a plate for him.
I have also added a small clamp on the extension left arm that it holds the monitor bracket directly in front of your head and in a correct distance, that can also be adjusted with an additional arm.(not shown)
its the red J brack, the producction bracket is different in design but works same way.
thanks

I have just been confirmed that Glenn Dreher will be shooting in DC next week and then Chicago the week after, so if anyone is interested seeing the Titan prototype you can drop him a mail at glenn@thinkagainmedia.com
thank you

Anyone interested in seeing the Titan in either DC or Chicago can send me an email and I can give you further details on our schedule and let you know the best time(s) to drop by.

Thanks.

Shooting with the Titan this week

Shooting with the Titan this week

Here are a few pics from our shoot in DC on Tuesday with the Titan. Please excuse the image quality, these were taken with an iPhone and for some inexplicable reason they are rather fuzzy. I think our PA has dropped her iPhone one too many times and the crappy pictures are the results of that.

In any event here's a brief explanation of our setup. For those that don't know the background of the rig I'm working with I'll give e brief overview. I have an early prototype for the shoulder pad, arms and handles which doesn't accurately represent the production version. With that in mind, you may notice I've got a baseplate and dovetail mounted to the Titan. The simple explanation is at the time of receiving the prototype the quick release system was not complete and I've only got a six inch baseplate to work with which makes balancing a large zoom difficult. I was going from hand-held, then back to a slider with no time to spare so we decided to mount the Titan directly to the slider setup. Once the QR system is ready I would do away with my current baseplate and mount directly to the Titan and then go from shoulder to dolly or tripod using the QR components. We also used a rather clumsy double battery configuration which would not be the way I would configure once the QR system is up and running. I used a v-mount plate attached to the RED battery module as opposed to using the Titan battery arm for the same reason as above. Once the production version is ready I will mount my v-mount plate directly to the Titan battery arm which will allow me to quickly go from a v-mount (tripod) setup to a Redvolt (lightweight hand-held) setup in a matter of seconds by simply unplugging the v-mount cable and popping off the dovetail and attaching the shoulder pad.

Talk to you soon.

We finished our shoot in Chicago and everything went well. I used the Titan almost exclusively for three days straight. Aside from my matte box crapping out I didn't have any issues. I'll post a few more pics a little later. I was planning on using the Red quad battery module but opted for the v-mount directly attached to the camera. Balance was front heavy which created early fatigue for me. Once the QR system is complete I would opt to mount the v-mount battery on the battery plate and arm which would counter balance the front heavy rig.

Thank you Glenn for your postings. We are ready to launch our production and will announce it soon. We are updating things as we speak and the improvements that has been made will not disappoint you :).

Also - We did another run on the patents, with our lawyers, the ones that now has been granted. As they differed a little to the patent applications made before. Annoyingly expensive LOL, but well worth it, as it's still found to be very different solutions and our own patent is going forward :).

One of the things I really like about the Titan is the flexibility you have with the robust top handle. I find myself holding the camera by the handle often to get shots where I might have to crouch down if I were to keep it on my shoulder. The handle is big and easy to grab. Flip it forward if you're front heavy or back if you've got a lighter setup. I jumped from shoulder to top handle handheld many times per day and it worked brilliantly.
