I sort of see it like this.
We make the monster, then we complain when the monster wants to eat us.
There is no one to blame but ourselves for helping put these companies into the overlord position. Yes, they might make great tools, but the sad thing about these times is that we whine at a keyboard and that is supposed to be the big revolutionary behavior.
The only power left is purchasing power, how you spend money matters and people have to have the sack to not cave in and to buy alternatives. If there are no alternatives now it is because we love creating one company (apple, adobe, and whoever) so that later they can form whatever new world order they choose.
the marketplace is better with competition, but it seems to be a winner take all deal. We tend to become the sheep who flock in the direction of "the winner" but when there is only one company left the sheep really end up being led by the wolfe.
So now we can all take it up the pooper and complaining won't change anything because we ignored this a longtime ago when Corel draw was around.

Hey Tom,I understand the issue about not being able to read your own project files years from now. Adobe should address this question, IMHO.
The main issue for me with Adobe software is that I need to be able to use it on all my computers. I literally now have like 6 main computers that I use, including three laptops and three desktops. I choose which laptop I am going to take on a trip with me based on how long the trip will be, how much luggage I want to drag around, etc. Currently if I sign up for CC, how many computers can I use the software on?
i agree - and Mark Toia - you make real money at what you do - you're seriously going to work with a single-track timeline just because you're upset with the pricing structure? Really!? That's plain old nuts.

Of course they should.
All of the other cloud services that I use address this issue - and I use quite a few!
I suspect Adobe won't though.
In which case... I'm out.

Is the cloud that bad of an Idea? I think as long as it works I would rather pay $600 a year opposed to paying for $6000 that last a year. I just hope it works like CS6. Any thoughts?
Hi Bruce,
I am still a little confused by this response. We currently offer so many ways to archive versions of your product that don't involve opening a Premiere Project. Today you can export to EDL, XML, AAF, OMF, and IRCP. Not to mention the ability to encode final output to just about any format in the world. We are continuing to work on these and other features to interchange with other apps. We always have. After Effects allows saving back to previous versions of project formats. So do most other Adobe apps. The Premiere Team now has a lot of people requesting the feature to save back to CS 6 projects and we will balance that against other feature requests.
Cheers

(random side note thought as well as this just popped into my head... You can import a Premiere Project to After Effects, save that back to CS6 version and open that in Premiere Pro CS 6)

It would actually be very easy for Adobe to do this. They should just allow you to install any legacy version from the cloud. And how do we know they don't plan to do that anyway - since CC just started with CS6.
Hey TomSorry I missed you at NAB! Each Cloud license gets you access at the same time on 2 machines, any language, mac or windows. This is a much better setup than what we allowed with perpetual.

Tom is talking about the ability to open your project AFTER you are no longer subscribed to the cloud.
If Adobe was offering cloud services plus some kind of buy-out option, nobody would be upset.
