Kyle, that was shot in the RED booth at NAB. Phil was not actually present for that image, which Jarred posted on his Facebook page.
From what I've heard, the 8k Vista Vision is a completely new sensor. Not just a larger slice of Dragon.

WHAT IS THE 8K SENSOR UPGRADE?
RED is offering a pre-order for the next generation 8K sensor, along with placing your WEAPON CF deposit.
Featuring a VistaVision format sensor that measures 40mm x 20mm (40.96mm x 21.6mm) and is capable of capturing up to 60 frames per second at 8K FF (8192 x 4320) and up to 75 frames per second at 8K 2.40:1.
is this still dragon sensor?
Higher frame rates can be achieved in windowing mode or subsampling mode ?
Honestly i dont care for higher framerates, just dont like that windowing mode at all.if we can still do 150-200fps 4K without windowing it would be awesome.Still Dragon sensor. I dont believe extra high speed is possible (at lower resolutions)...Jarred has mentioned Dragon sensor itself is the bottleneck for additional frame rates...

I hope Phil is right and the 8k weapon upgrade gets a boost as well.
10k 2.4:1 aspect seems the logical choice.
10368 x 4320, 51.85mm x 21.60mm
Using MF lenses would then be much more practical and it would be almost the size of Alexa65's 54.12 x 25.58 sensor
and of course 10k for $10k has a nice ring to it, at least for those who put our deposits down.
We are updating all the tech specs and copy on RED.com to show the 4.5K ripple effect as we speak....
SO curious is Zeiss Variable Prime 1,2, & 3 cover the 8k sensor. Anyone know? I read super 35, full 35, and 35mm is covered, obviously left me confused. tried searching for the thread on lenses that will cover 8k but after 3 search attempts this was the closest thread I could find.
I like them, BUT.... they breathe, and do not cover 8K. However, they are very like a Master Prime in sharpness.
Also, not very assistant friendly. Haven't tried them handheld or steadicam.
If you are willing to put up with their ergonomic quirks, they are a very compact way to get a set of focal lengths in a small package.
I think Dante's Peak was shot primarily with them... if any one from that show is here..please confirm or deny.
