Here's my bid on what it is.

RedWeapon body type with Canon, Nikon, or PL non-removable mount.
Dragon sensor
Max 4K 30 at 12:1
the 5" screen
and CFast 2.0 media or the 120Gb RedSSD
uses redvolt XL batteries

for $7-10k

Alright, but we should not judge something that has not even been shipped yet, we know nothing about this camera except its specs which are: "4,6k Raw/15 stops of Dynamic Range at 4k$", which is pretty crazy..

But to be honest, my concern is more about the Alexa mini, i hope that Arri will cut its price really soon..

Why would you cut the price of something that is selling out at its current price?

As for the Ursa Mini, of course I'll take a look at it, but every single one of BM's cameras has looked amazing on paper and so that is no longer anything to get excited about.

C300 MK2 isn't shipping yet.

Ursa Minis started shipping this week I believe.

EDIT: Also what Phil said. BMs often offer a great image at the cost of a lot of PITA workarounds and time consumption. On certain shoots that is something that is acceptable in order to keep camera costs down. On other types of shoot it is an instant dealbreaker.

There's release date for C300 MKII. There is no release date for URSA Mini 4.6K.

For the second part I answered on earlier post.

That is almost funny. With all due respect - my "awesome" and your "awesome" are just ... VERY different.

Well with all due respect, "4K4LL" is not going to be "your" awesome 8K 1000fps camera. We are talking about lower cost 4K cameras here and 4.6K URSA Mini is just that.

Final weight in: A refresh of the Scarlet line sounds more reasonable. Similar price range and abit more camera.

I just wonder how much fun Jim, Jarred and RED has looking at all the speculations. ;)

I think we will see more than just one body: “Scarlet Weapon“ (not seen on the picture) and something specced below current Scarlet Dragon. Björns idea of a MX camera with new OLPF makes sense...

I think we will see the announcement on SCARLETs birthday.

Probably most likely. Would be great for there to be a tier of accessories that don't double the cost of entry as well.

Well ... it was really just responding to a comments about URSA's price, etc. RED does NOT have to price a 4K camera the same or lower than a BM camera if it has much better images.

BM URSA Mini shoots 4.6K RAW with 15 stops of DR. You think RED's "4K4ALL" will have so much better 4K image that people will pay double the price of URSA Mini? Both companies have superb image anyways when it comes to color etc.

Yes we are. But my point Josh, is that the C300 MK 2 is also JUST THAT.

"lower cost" ... "lower" that what?

My point is that people ARE paying more than $10K for 4K camera - because ... a BM or DSLR offering - priced less - is not good enough for their needs.

I have no idea what RED's "other" camera is going to cost. But I am pretty damn sure it will be on par or better than a C300 MK2 which is selling better than fine at $16K - which again - refutes your comment I originally responded to.

Nice trolling. You 12 years old? Jarred owns bmcuser.com. I doubt he is rolling anything. Just shows that you are scared because BM has awesome cinema cameras coming out for 3k$ and 5k$ that will make probably something that you won obsolete.

Everyone i know who has bought into BlackMagic has found out what it means to have a camera work against you instead of for you. No BMC will make me think twice about using my Dragon on any serious project, and sorry guys but i highly doubt ANY red camera will cost less than $5,000. If this Brain is indeed compatable with the Mini MAG EVEN if it costs $5,000 or less, the 120GB mini mags cost $850 a piece.. A Scarlet MX costs $7,500 (without olpfs and new fancy tech). I DO hope this camera is affordable for more people to have the chance to become involved with one of the best Camera Companies in the wolrd of Digital Cinema, at the same time I hope those of us who already own a DSMC find ways to use the new camera as well!

And have you measured that yourself and ensured it isn't marketing bumpf? Oh that's right.. No.

There's very few people that have ever been able to say truthfully and in an informed way another digital cinema camera's image quality is on a par with, let alone surpasses that of Red's. I'd suggest they deserve the benefit of the doubt on that front.

And that's before you get into the advantages of Redcode.

Personally, I think there is something in the post. 4K4ALL...it will be around $4,000.

Bare bones Scarlet MX that is ready to shoot for $4,000 would be a great option in the market. If it's Dragon sensor it will be even better.

Pretty much, if you can get into a RTS RED system for around $4,000 it's going to make a splash, MX/Dragon or whatever it ends up being.

BM URSA Mini shoots 4.6K RAW with 14 stops of DR. You think RED's "4K4ALL" will have so much better 4K image that people will pay double the price of URSA Mini? I'm sure 14 stops is more than enough for the "4K4ALL" market. Both companies have superb image anyways when it comes to color etc.

Josh, there are spec sheets and info like that, but there's a lot more that goes into camera testing and implementation on studio level projects. You're talking to a few folks who are on that side of things here. Pixel design, color bleeds, artifacts, NR issues, over internal sharpening, writing inconsistencies, failure rate, etc.....

We literally don't know anything about this new mystery camera. There's no comparison to be made yet. I'm "guessing" it will land in the $6-$12K arena if it's even what everybody here thinks it is. And yes, there will be be people who will pay double the price if it's allowed on set, but don't tell anybody that just yet.

You betcha Red is scared of BM.

I'll take that bet... How much do you want to wager?

I have a ton of respect for Black Magic.. What they are doing in post production software is incredibly disruptive and what they doing in the very low priced camera market is admirable.

But "Fear" and "Black Magic" is not two words that have shared the same sentence @ RED.

At the same price, a lot of people will choose the Alexa mini over the Red Weapon, but with this new #4k4all camera, i will personally reconsider my choice, price is important too..

You can afford an Alexa Mini and can earn a return on that investment with work but instead you're going to buy an Ursa Mini?

Hmmm... Good luck to you.

@@ true story

but anyone expecting Red to release something for $4-5K is fooling themselves, I think.
Well it comes down to the "4K4ALL". That really means 4K for all. Not 4K for professionals that can buy any camera they want. This camera will be affordable so that everyone can join the RED if they want. The market in 3k$ range is huge and it seems that RED wants piece of it.
