  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

4K Delivery... get ready.

O.. and of course... Every REDRAY player Designed, Manufactured and Assembled proudly in our factory in Southern California by some pretty bad-ass techs in some pretty bad ass lab coats :)

When they're not riding motorcycles and kicking ass, the Sons of Anarchy pass the time assembling technological break throughs for the filmmaking community:)..... And crocheting.

I think you could easily start a new line of clothing too. Looking forward to all the good news in December!

It's time the harping stopped and the selling began.

I'm in.

Now I have the build a theater in the mountains.

I'm thinking iTunes/youtube in 4K in red distribution codec.

Ha! I have been preaching that stuff for a while for fun. It would be crazy if it were true. I doubt it cause the mpeg standard stuff is free... Maybe Red will start up their own thing where red ray users can partake and make everyone jealous.

Unfortunately MPEG is not free. They even have a pack of lawyers associated called MPEG LA that will hound you for money if you do the wrong thing.

What's interesting is Sony's new compression. It's supposed to be 30% better then H264. Who knows if they'll release a compression encoder for it?

18 more days until the announcement... like waiting for Christmas when you are 8 years old... time feels interminably long!

You can stop guessing... Nobody mentioned in this thread has tackled both sides of distribution correctly.. for either the home or the theater.

Jarred, can you speak to how we will compress to Redray format? Will Red Rocket owners get a boost in encoding or maybe the redray will have hardware compression to speed up encoding?

I think RED is going to get a huge amount of Fiber in their diet soon ;)

P.s. Have you guys tested out the new Canon Cinema lens?

Stop guessing? Where is the fun in that!?

OK, so if it's not apple, amazon, netflix, google....

...then it's a studio. It's Disney, Viacom/Paramount, Time Warner/WB, Comcast/NBC/Universal.

Those entities have tackled both sides of distribution in a major way. Especially the comcast/time warner group. That's a interesting but horrific thought.

Just a guess, I'm wondering if Mark Cuban and AXS TV are involved. With new partners like Ryan Seacrest and others, this sounds like something they would be interested in.
