  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

4K Delivery... get ready.

All I know is a few months ago when the Facebook IPO was going on and there was some negativity about Facebook, Jim said something to the effect that something better was coming. At the time I thought he might be referring to MySpace, but that seems to be a music and video site exclusively. Whatever it is, it will have a leg up on the competition through Redcode. If this thread is meant as a Charades thread, there should be more clues. '-)

Just a guess, I'm wondering if Mark Cuban and AXS TV are involved. With new partners like Ryan Seacrest and others, this sounds like something they would be interested in.

Best guess so far. But they seem to be more about second screen/integrating social into TV kind of thing.

Wouldn't the focus here be more about 4K, and enabling indie content to get distributed? Talk of Cloud-based content, DRM (RED seems to have its own) etc., would figure prominently in that case, perhaps?

Curiouser and curiouser.

edit: agree with Elsie. More clues please. ;)

AXS used to be HDnet. It was the first fully HD channel in the early 2000's. Maybe they want to be the first fully 4K channel via Satellite. I'm probably wrong about this anyway.

Content providers are the KEY... whats been the big obstacle to them giving titles to NETFLIX etc? PIRACY

how do we solve PIRACY issue = DRM?

Whats been the challenge of DRM? = TOO EXPENSIVE

DRM = My brothers invention is the BEST solution and just got a patent issued... be prepared to RECLAIM YOUR IDENTITY in 2014... and will provide the most affordable and scalable DRM solution that is privacy centric. Google and the others are trying to enslave the human race digitally.. we hope to change that.

Anyway... the key to all of this (imho)

1. Secure digital delivery = ? (this is my guess as to the mystery partner)
2. Affordable delivery and sensible bandwidth = REDCODE... (15 mps per second kids at 4K, game over)
3. Affordable Encoder/Decoder = REDRAY Home market
4. Affordable PROJECTORS/DECODERS = Red again leading the way and Sony and Christie and the rest already following suit for theaters.

Now as Mike Most has chimed in for the past several years... there are some standards bodies in the way... and my bet is RED did their homework.

I have yet to see any example or indication of a DRM, encryption or copy protection scheme of any type that can't be defeated.... Just sayin'

Don't get me wrong, that's not my thing. I think content and IP thieves and pirates are some of the lowest filth in the universe. But DRM and copy protection is not always the best or only answer.

Tim, I'm looking forward to this privacy-centric DRM you speak of. That is something we definitely need! Although, I remain truly skeptical.

It cannot be defeated digitally...and will bring us "verifiable anonymity" - Don't want to thread jack but its been validated by some of the world's leading security experts and is so simple (and complex) that I wish I had filmed these guys reactions... it ALWAYS starts with extreme skepticism... followed by intense questioning and then the "AH HA!" moment where almost every single person slaps their own forehead or a leg and says.. "Omg, How does that not already exist?" - pretty exciting stuff and will actually reduce internet traffic as it completely replaces certificates (which is based on 28 year old PKI and which is defeat-able as you correctly conclude) The Identity Private Network IPN (its brand name) provides the missing security to advance IPV6.

ironically it was nearly rejected by the US patent office... it was the EU patent office (where people covet their privacy) that got the patent fast tracked and he actually turned the US patent office 180'... she nearly rejected it for being "too obvious" - been a crazy last few months - we are in super stealth mode and I should probably shut up now but I will say this...

my brothers invention allows anyone to instantly and immediately turn their underlying ID "on or off"the internet. something that currently does not exist and can positively authenticate both endds of the wire the network, the device, website etc all with less than 28K of data. :)

BACK TO TOPIC... BRING ON THE 4K DISTRIBUTION NETWORK... I dont think many people realize how fucking game changing this is. Only 16 more days which is divisible by 4!! just saying!

First off DRM is a pain in the ass for people who want to use the movie for personal/non illegal use. Good examples are having a streaming home server to access movies at anytime. Or Skipping through all the 100 previews before you actually get to a movie for your kids.

Putting them on a ipad because some studio's do not want to give you a digital copy and want you to use Ultraviolet.

These are just some example I know people deal with and there are tons more. The movie studios have every right to protect there property but they are still living in the past. Then need to find a way where the DRM is invisible to the customer in every way.

I have great idea for this, even though I am using it for a different application the same principles apply and the customer does not even notice a thing. It just works.

I love it when someone can see the tree hidden in the forest and am looking forward to using something like this. My only hope is that DARPA doesn't find a defeat that allows some govt. agency to target who's using it and be drawn to those users as suspect.

I meant that the macrumor site got it wrong, and RED's player is the reason they look into bandwidth. That it has nothing to do with Apple

Too right Tim, I've been investigating doing schemes for software ownership that frees the software from the individual hardware device and internet, while preserving privacy and maintain backup, years ago. Lately I have considered starting up an organisation to promote ethically responsible manufacture and rights.

I copy films whenever I see a picture, with my eyeballs :-) Remember "Be kind, Rewind". ;)

Seriously, they take drm too far, where do you stop, are people going to be made copyright thrives for just seeing something. They want to even charge you per view and per viewer. I read about a patent recently that stops the movie from playing if too many people are in the room, or I think, somebody unregistered is there. Sounds like some Darwinian Orwellian Big Brother Aprils fools joke. (DOBBAFJ).

Unfortunately MPEG is not free. They even have a pack of lawyers associated called MPEG LA that will hound you for money if you do the wrong thing.

What's interesting is Sony's new compression. It's supposed to be 30% better then H264. Who knows if they'll release a compression encoder for it?

I thought MPEG compression patents had run out Less, and they released it?

Sound Juducial policy and an encrypted audit trail prevent abuse... the govt WILL be able to spy on an individual much like they can bank accounts today... (actually the patriot act screwed all of us so they dont even need subpoean's but thats another discussion) BUT with this system there is an audit trail and privacy groups will monitor the govt monitoring individuals. They wont know who... they will. just know they are spying ... and have a record of it for future.

it uses MULTI factor authentication and we have ZER0 access to a users personally identifiable digital information... we dont want to know who or what you are. all that info is kept OFFLIne and exchanged thru the encrypted out of band network. while SSlLsecures transmission most companies store info on their servers UNENCRYPTED (hence the all the brute force attacks to topple servers and steal millions of CC numbers we read about) - ultimately end users will never send credit card iinfo again... which is INSANE since we dont go shopping onn the real world and ask the clerk to hold our credit card for opur next visit.

instead they will invite trusted parties to their encryptrd offline account for a one time session. it topp;es RSA's monoply of wanting to ne the central authoruty and decentralizes trust... like the real world and provides end users sovereign control over their Identity (again this does NOT exist online) - the easiest way to explain it is that the invention turns any Internet connected device into a secure "atm-like network" for exhanging sensitive data online... its mostly invisible to the end user and requires little modification of how we use the interne today. Simply adds a step of logging on and off the INTERNET.

the holy grail it provides... is a massivelt scalable single sign on for consumers... no more filling out forms on websites ... You control how much or how little the website gets... no cookies... meaning consumers control who gets heir surfing habits..."you want my surfing habits? fuck you... pay me" is the end goal and thats why we expect mass adoption as it will not only be free to end users but they will ,ost likely be compensatrd for sharing their data.... the advertising industry will be turned upside down"

This is how the internet SHOULD be... and the company is called IAMSECURE online, Imc... 8 years of development and has multiple issued patents and several more pending. So in relation to RED 4K delivery

The studio will know for CERTAIn... that the person at the theater requesting the encrypte file is who they say they are as the theater will know that the studio is who they say they are... 99.999% efficacy in testing...because it uses dynamic key echange and is time stamped

what this really does it recreates the real world principle that it is impossible to be in more than one place at the same time (which because it exists online is the number one reason ID theft grows exponentially while billions are spent with failed perimeter security solutions.)

The internet was never created with a way to establish ASSERTIONS... so this basically is a complete internet do over... and thankfully is thin, transparent and will affordably plug into existing internet infrastructure... and will actually Secure the cloud for real not with marketing speak by the same internet security companies rebranding the same old shit that does not work and never will work because its too expensive and certificates are easily forged and a flawed methodology.

Forgive the long post but Im writing a white paper now and had a nice stream of consciousness here... because right now Im the only person on earth that can explain what this does in laymen terms,. my brother will have your eyes glazed over in moments with discussions of IPSEC protocols and IpV6 and dynamic key exchange and mutual authentication receipts... etc etc yawn!

main benefit? caller ID for spam... all mail will immediately be blocked or the server shut down. Remember this authenticates EVERYTHING - server, website, individual, network, device etc . in miliseconds and If its not part of the IPN then it will never get in the network.

No more spam... whats that worth?

the whole system is stateful and ironically contradicts Microsoft Identity architect Kim cameron's 7 Laws of Identity... (which argues why a stateful system will never work) and does so by introducing 3 new laws to his 7. (my current white paper)

The bottom line for ALL of us.. the Govt proposed solution is very Drakonian... like google, they want to digitally enslave the human race...and will create a super credential that if hacked will be Microsoft passport all over again - WebsafeID puts the control of our identity into OUR hands where it belongs.

Bottom line for RED - I own 10% and will be able to buy lots more RED Camera gear soon :)
