  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

18-85mm

There's no doubt in my mind that this is exactly what RED is doing. Now that the camera is shipping in big numbers, we are going to see many new dedicated options from different manufacturers. Not just lenses, but all kind of accessories. You can be proud of yourselves for that also, Jim and RED team. RED is clearly not just a camera, it's a new way of doing things.
Its really inspiring other manufacturers. Btw, i posted some information i got directly from angenieux regardiong their new lens for the red here:
http://www.reduser.net/forum/showthread.php?t=10363
and they even gave red a dedication, its called "optimo rouge" (rouge is french for red).

I think the 18-85 and the optimo are pretty interesting for us :)

BTW, I thought exactly the same thing when I bought my first Oakley Blades in 1985.
I think the only oakley product i ever possessed was the "thermonuclear protection" t-shirt - i weared it in the 80ties in order to be safe in the case of a suddenly occuring ww III :)

I hope that RED is in some small way responsible for getting the other companies to step up the pace.

Jim

Someone finally stepped up and...

"destroyed the border between east & west"
"brought life to the indie community"
"broke the (you're not in this league) barrier"
"put those bastards in their place"

and most importantly

"fell in love for the second time"

THANK YOU JIM!!!!!!!!!!

Jarred, you need to share the love a bit better than this brother. A few more shots, maybe?! :whistling:

I bet the lens serial numbers are on a different "counter". I'd bet that the two lenses they have now are serial #000001 and #000002.

Correct...

Just chillin tell you guys show me a RED 10-20mm...Loving my old skool Arri prime set for now...got to be some of the smallest primes in the world..they look like an inverted penis on this camera though...um...well I think that is what they look like(it's not like I have seen one or anything...) :) :)

I have a signed contract for #121. I will expect it to be honored. :calm:

Model: RED 18-85MM ZOOM (R)
Serial Number: 18Z-000121

Well... this raises the question, what about those reservations that were changed for the 18-50mm, do the others (that have kept their reservations) get a smaller number (logically) ?

Cheers,
Red 18-85mm res holder #210

any chance they'll be a RED 1.4X and/or 2x doubler for the zoom/primes ?

Fresh sheet of paper design, T2.9, weighs under 10 lbs, available in feet or meters, wicked sharp- $9975

Jim

Hey Jim,

What's the process for reserving one of these bad boys? Not the on Red Store yet, others seem to have reservation numbers, I had one reserved at NAB, but then it got changed to the 18-50, which I put a deposit on, but decided not to get.

Do you plan to put on the Website so we can place a deposit and reserve?

M

for all having reservations on the 18-85mm lens - are they still valid? they are about 1 and a 1/2 year old. (we have 26 - 30)...

Reservations are still valid if the deposit hasn't been used up. But we are not adding anymore reservations at this time.
