  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

+1 Module shipping next week

Jarred, are the 4 little screw holes on the tactical plate the same spacing as the four screw holes on the back of the camera brain? Or are they the same spacing for like battery plates and stuff?

These look great. Can't wait to buy 2 of them for easy accessory swapping. Can you share the price yet?

I saw a prototype at Red's NAB booth of a wireless transmitter module that had HDMI out of the receiver. There was some talk about possibly combining it into the +1 module. I guess that would make it +2! What ever happened to that? Is Red still working on a basic wireless transmitter?

So, Jarred - are the small threads on the new backpack adapter located at the exact same spot as the bolts on the +1 (used to bolt it onto the Brain) ?

+1 on the question concerning the spacing of the four screw holes (pardon the pun).

Here is the receiving part...:

For now this is fed by the Meizler module.
I would also like to see a tiny module (the size of the +1) that serves as the Transmitter and still keeps the camera compact.
So my ideal compact setup would be:

BRAIN -> +1 ADAPTER -> RED WIFI -> RED V-Lock (that powers the camera via the pins - just like the REDVOLT-based dual and quad modules, not a LEMO cable)
or just
BRAIN -> +1 ADAPTER with RED WIFI -> RED V-Lock

Pretty please?

Education may cure your distaste. Maybe you don't understand how that works... its not just taking video over pins or whatever you are thinking. The PRO IO has an ASIC in it to create a separate video output, and when you add an ASIC it needs a fan, a heatsink, more power, much more space and more $$ :)

Ok, that explains a lot. I didn't realise there was quite so much going on in the Pro I/O.

correct.. same place as on the brain.

Christopher,

would you be able to confirm that the HDSDI out still works with this module?

Thanks

Jarred just did, a few posts earlier.

To recap for everyone:
  • +1 Module does not require the Module Adapter (it's built right in)
  • HDMI port is consumed by this module (get the Pro I/O if you also want to use HDMI)
  • HDMI connector cannot be removed (+1 Module must be removed to re-enable access to port)
  • HDSDI port is still available for monitoring and/or connecting to an HDMI converter
  • Once connected, the second monitor is shown in software as "Rear LCD"
  • For everything else, there's the Pro I/O
  • Will be available on RED.com Monday, Feb-25 (ships on Friday March-1)

Hi Joe, I have a Viewfactor APU V-mount plate. As you probably know, it fits directly on the back of the brain. Putting it on the back of a module, however, is a different matter because the backs of the modules are different from the back of the brain. They haven't publicized it much for some reason, but VF has a plate that goes between the back of a module and the VF battery plate. (I assume they still have them, they sent me one a few months ago.) You'll probably need to call them, because they don't always respond to contacts made through their website.

Great Mike, Thanks for the info this is very helpful.

Well we actually hit another shipping target :)

The + 1 Module is hitting the RED.COM store Tuesday and will start shipping out Friday. $1250.

Enjoy this quick little vid Sean , Nate and Dan threw together tonight to celebrate.

heh heh heh..

In the first post, I believe Jarred mentioned in Red.com store Tuesday.......

or my MG1 V-mount Pro plate. When is this new backpack adapter coming out? This week too.

Found my camera.

Here is the new backpack adapter.. lets you put the backpack, or battery plate, on the back of any module ( just not the brain )

Also here you can see the HDMI cable coming off the +1

The backpack's cable doesn't seen long enough to reach the camera from the back of the MODULE ADAPTOR + PRO IO + Backpack adapter

Maybe this has been answered before, but will the monitor plug on the +1 module offer full functionality, touchscreen and button commands, or will it just be a "dumb" video port?

Any news about the power specifications on the AUX-port?

Okay - So am I missing something?
Is the video pass through to the +1 done solely through the HDMI plug?

That's because the +1 Module takes the place of the Module Adapter. The Module Adapter functions are built into the +1. You do not need the Module Adapter if you have this.

Jarred confirmed in this thread the touch functions are fully working when TOUCH LCD is connected on the +1... even tho the video is coming from HDMI port.
