So... Recently I asked about portable lighting for the jungle... Thanks to a forum member, i stumbled across a whole world of info on reduser about the subject... F&V and bbs lights... :)
I'm hoping this thread will do the same.

if you're away from the electrical grid for a few days... what do...
water cooler discussion today led me to this question...
Is there too much visual information being thrown at viewers now?
I, for one, LOVE high resolution cameras... and high frame rates... but... i document scientific research.. the higher res, the better...

my name is billy... and i'm a camera geek.
does a chart exist that compares all of the 4k capable cameras and their file sizes?
i know that redcode allows some amazing things file size wise... but.. I'd like to see file information between the red one, red one mx, scarlet, epic, canon 4k cameras, sony, arri alexa, alexia, or however you...

our editing platform is obviously apple... one editing station is a mac pro... two others are macbook pros... the footage is stored on a 12 tb thunderbolt raid with a mac mini controller.... the editing...
Our sony camera crapped out last week.. Basically on the eve of a huge week of filming....
so...
After a failed last minute attempt to procure a red, my work begrudgingly allocated a few hundred dollars for me to rent a canon d1c for 3 days this week.

i stumbled across a list of patents awarded to mr. jannard.
quite an awesome list if you ever get the chance to read it.
We're in the process of moving 14 years of video files from my local machine to a central server for everyone to have access to.
The problems? My organization skills suck and i never delete files...
there are redundant video files all over the hard drive... BUT... they are in different...
So....

we're in the process of trying to figure out how to store all of our media gear in our office... and have a modular approach to "grab and go" what we need...
from...
We've compiled an extensive stack of media related gear... and people stop by all the time to "borrow" a camera... or lights... or a memory card..

The dynamic range is amazing (for a...
