I think the red gunner serves several purposes IMHO.
1. it's mainly a handle for your left hand when shooting or taking stills so you don't hold the lens.
2. Those could have been power and control cables for the lenses and/or follow focus, or possibly control future zooms. But I think not.
3. What I really think it is, it's a combination shoulder pad, handle with a microphone in it and or XLR inputs at the back of the shouldr pad. If you think about the fixed lens version supposed to be a complete camera ready to shoot, then you need a microphone. Who says it can't be bellow the lens??
4. it's also extendable in a forward direction too, that is what numbers I think reefer to. May have a pistol grip or something at the front as well but too early to tell.
