  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

New Final Cut Studio Released!

Some nice improvements. Most notably the expanded support for 4K within Color and ProRes 4444 (yes, that's 4444). Blu-Ray support finally, but it looks pretty weak.

Funny if not downright insulting is that FCP7 lets you create Bluray discs but still doesnt offer a Bluray reader on their notebooks!

And about Color supporting 4K "native" RED format is probably a lie. There is still no native support of .r3d :embarassed:

Why do people keep saying this?
"Native support" to me would imply dragging an .r3d file right from my finder into the FCP project bin and being able to use that clip in my timeline. Currently, I get a message that says "File Error: Unknown File."

I completely agree...

ProRes 444 and 4K in Color sounds very, very interesting, however...

I wonder if FCS2 will get an update to work with PR444, I guess not, but it would be nice for the short-term.

Dom.

The one thing that the Adobe workflow has over this release, seemingly, is the integrated RedAlert interface and metadata...but with a solid ProRes 4444 and 4K Color workflow, I can probably live with that...

I'm hoping that Rocketcine-X will be supporting ProRes 4444, that with realtime Rocket transcoding would be all that I need to feel that the workflow is finally complete.

Bring on the Tangent Wave...some nice additions to Motion as well.

And no one has mentioned the price drop, $300 for the upgrade is damn cheap....

and none of us will give a crap about Blu-Ray soon, since it won't support any of this - gimme RED RAY and a monitor...

I'm assuming the new ProRes 4444 means 4:4:4 plus 4k? That would make sense, because there's not many 4:4:4 formats that aren't 4k, right?
