  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

DSMC Accessories

Hi Brook

Do you have a setup so I can attach a red brick to your Full metal jacket top plate?

I have one designed that will attach to the back of the camera but it is not ready yet. A popular option is to attach a RED Quick Plate to the back of my top plate.

That said, we should probably leave discussions of my top plate to another thread - this thread is for discussions of RED's own accessories! :)

Red's Swat Rail system is pure genius.. I love how everything is just quick-release-able.
Here is Red's sliding Top Handle configured to the side.

heh heh love it Tonaci... love it.

Also love the "Danger: Jet blast" in the "top cheese plate" (is it the View Factor top cheese plate?) markings. Hilarious! :D

Yes - View factor, they even come with your own logo laser engraved included!

What I would really like is a clamp that mounts to the bottom of the LCD so that I can slide it on and off the swat rail.

Good idea. With my RED I always like quickly moving the LCD to the front rails so I'm not looking straight up at the monitor when going hand-held. I'm not sure how to accomplish this with the current DSMC accessories.

haha thanks. It is so awesome because when I pack the Epic, I can strip it down without a single tool. =)

Would this work? =)

You mean like this? =)

Or use it on the top with Red's DSMC TOP MOUNT with ROD TO ROSETTE BRACKET

There are bajillion ways to configure this. =)

I've been searching for some kind of quick release plate to allow quick removal of the LCD from our top mount cheese plate, but no luck yet. Anyone else have any ideas/suggestions?

Thanks,

Not for me. :-) I want to slide the LCD on and off the swat mount, the same way you slide the top handle on and off. It can use the same mechanism as the top handle too.

I was looking at the 16x9 inc QR plate. I believe it is the same one Stephen Lovett mentioned to me.

+1 :-)

Stacy and I discussed this after humping a couple of Epic, RPP's, sticks, Cineslider, 3D rig etc. into in the boonies, and we both are looking for a quick release mechanism for the touch screen.

A swat rail could work fine, we just need a low profile female receiver that could bolt to bottom of the Bomb bracket. Something similar to the bottom section of the sliding top handle.

Stacey, I've been too busy to follow up with the 16x9 guys, I'll let you know what I find out.

Steve

I've been using this for quick mounting/removal of the LCD. Works well.

I didn't care for the 16x9 quick release. Had one on a monitor arm and it failed within 6 months and was always an on/off pain.

I have had good luck with the Element Technica v-mount stuff:

Although its a bit harder to fit to a monitor bottom.

A low profile plate that would slide onto a swat rail would be a good option.

This is the bit you are after. Quick Release negative Nato Rail to 1/4-20 threaded holes on multiple sides... super low profile.. super quick off and on. You can put an LCD, EVF, Noga Arm, Handle, etc.etc.etc. on these things.
