15mm Studio Offset 100mm spacing

Jarred, Can you give us a hint when 15mm Studio Offset accessories are coming to the store? I would rather just stay would Red branded accessories, it just makes more sense to me. Id like to keep my accessories compatible with my Red 1 stuff I already own.

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to figure out a good configuration for DSMC accessories, and I've been digging into the store for a couple of days now. The video demos about the quick release system really helped. Great from Red!

But then I still have some questions (also I'm not an AC or even a camera op, so I might sound like a dummy):


1 / The quick release platform (dovetail):

it says "RED’s ARRI-standard dovetail mount Quick Release Platform (Dovetail)" > so I understand it's ARRI-standard, right?

But then, if I want to buy the dovetail mounting plate (long or short), that I assume would go underneath the Platform, it says: "The Dovetail Mounting Plate (Long) is provided for applications involving non-ARRI style heads"

So now, it's non-ARRI...

We don't have a head or even a tripod for now, and it's really a matter of defining the best solution for us to put together some equipment.

So if I was going to an ARRI standard solution for the fluid head, I would buy the QR Platform from Red, but I would have to buy the dovetail from another vendor to get it ARRI-Standard. Is that it?


2 / Top handle vs LCD:

I'm looking forward to using the top handle that is part of The Clutch bundle... But then, where do I attach the 5" Touch LCD?

Has anyone tried a configuration on an Epic (or Scarlet), with both top handle and Touch LCD? What extra accessory would be needed in that case? Can we mount the Touch LCD onto a Red Arm? It looks like the attach system is different than regular LCDs...


3 / monitoring outputs:

last question: I read you cannot use both the EVF and the LCD at the same time on Epic without the upcoming module (additional plugs)... but is there an HD-SDI and/or HDMI output right on the body (no additional module), so you can plug an extra-monitor for video village, or a second LCD onboard (like a small HD for 1st AC). I'm pretty sure there is, but awkwardly I wasn't able to find the info to confirm.

Here are just a few of the new DSMC Accessories that will be popping up in the store on RED.COM over the next couple weeks. As you know the Clutch and R1 Riser are already in the store, shipping.

Believe it or not.. this is just the beginning. Gunner Rig, Top Plates, Bottom Plates, Top Handles.. so much more on it's way.

Jepp, must say that it has been a bit lowfi after scarlet. clicking that shop every day to see if the quad batt module or Wifi stuff is there... no luck only the little scull batteries.

Scarlet has been announced only 6 weeks ago, I think we can give them a break

We all know that they're making the backordered issue their top priority, and they probably have an insane amount of orders with the Scarlet. To me, it makes sens that they first deal with what's already in the store ("coming soon", "backordered"), rather that adding new stuffs.

If they do add new items, there always will be people to complain that they should get rid of the backordered first... I guess they just can't please anyone.

Anyway that doesn't answer my questions... Any takes anyone?
