  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Ridley Scott and Dariusz Wolski...

I have been reading this forum for years, but I never felt I should join and waste people's time with the opinions of a non-Red One owner. I know that next year I'll be buying an Epic, so I knew the time was coming but still I drag my heals. Then I read this thread.

Well, I hope you're proud of yourselves now. I know I am.

The cool thing is that an Indie filmmaker can afford to own and shoot the same camera that is being used on the biggest budget/blockbuster movies. I can't remember that ever being the case...

Jim

I said a few months ago that EPIC was everything I ever wanted. I couldn't ask for more. I guess I am not alone... :)

Jim

All of this EPIC-ness is making me want to forget about the Scarlet. I can't wait for details on the much anticipated EPIC-S.

Keep taking names and kickin' butt...you've gotten it down. :biggrinjester:

That really says it all...

Jim, You where to day at our 3D workshop and you said nothing.....

R1 1265, and waiting for Epic.....coming soon

Outstanding!

You know, sometimes I really do miss the FUD, it was fun sparring with people who had an agenda to stifle the Red program. Nowadays, sitting on the veranda and sipping my iced tea, I sometimes get a little misty for the days when it was all a big, fat, hairy scam. (Yawn) I guess I'll go inside and see what's doing down at the Ol' Reduser. G'night!

OK we got the cameras, well almost, now the last frontier are lenses :) where are the ANAMORPHICS... and a cheap motion control rig

I always thought that Red was going to become the next Panavision.

So let's see the 3D list as it stands currently:

Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides - Rob Marshall
The Hobbit - Peter Jackson
Spiderman - Marc Webb (Perfect last name BTW)
Alien Movie - Ridley Scott

Pretty good lineup if you ask me (more like the best lineup a camera just out of the R&D lab could ask for). I think 3D is what is really going to push Red into the forefront of image acquisition. I'm not a huge fan of 3D but it seems to be getting Red a ton of mainstream exposure.

I know this is TMI, but...

Taking a shower earlier, I had this strong, real vision of me walking into a local "Pro" camera shop to try out the Canon 70-200II F2.8. In my hand was my Epic-X in lightweight configuration. I smiled for 10 minutes after that vision!

The fact that a fantasy will be real SOON... this is exactly what Jim is talking about Indie and 200 Million dollar productions sharing the same level of gear. Crazy!!!!

That is absolutely the coolest thing. Thanks for making that possible.

Scott, I know it must have seemed like an 8K Epic, but really it was just a 5K. Which is more than adequate and don't let anyone tell you differently. ;).

Moore's Law now applies to cinematography

Twice the quality for half the price

Except with Epic it's more like 3 times the quality for 1/5 the price

that's funny scott, i seem to trance off in the shower as well, i suppose its the rhythm and relaxation... you can actually see and think clearly. like the difference between compressed 1080p and RED 4k... and everything just seems together in the universe.

And a big, big, oversized THANK YOU! For making it possible.

Holy shite.

Alien and Blade Runner are such great films. The DOP of Alien was from Toronto.
It's so mind blowing to learn that Ridley and Dariusz will be working with your Epics.

Man, I am so proud to be a part of Reduser.

Cheers.

Make room on the list for the ones we can't talk about yet :)
