  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Ridley Scott and Dariusz Wolski...

The cool thing is that an Indie filmmaker can afford to own and shoot the same camera that is being used on the biggest budget/blockbuster movies. I can't remember that ever being the case...

Jim
That's exactly why I'm so exited about RED. :-)

No one has done this before. Thank you so much Jim & the hole Red Team !

That's all that we can wish... Thanks RED.

Recently, talking with a very good spanish DP, who had made greats F35 and RED's footage, but he still say film vs video, even talking about RED, it call it 'video' and I was horrorized... Seeing the real BIG pictures going shoot on RED, I would like to propose (and I'm going to do it) put on credits something like "FILMED IN REDCODE" just under the "SHOOT ON RED" label.

The REDCODE is the piece that make possible the unbelieve, and it's not just 'video' is almost digital film, so IMHO it's a very nice way to make people think in digitally filming.

Okay, this is getting fun.

RED's Normandy however, will be Spielberg. Lets see if he's next to contract the red fever!

Normandy is Cameron.
Spielberg is too esoteric to be relevant to digital cinema.

Maybe your "very good" Spanish DP should talk to Wolski, Schwartzman, and a few others? :-)

What gives me kinda of a sick gratification is how stupid all the Red haters must be feeling now.

For much of this year they have been bashing Epic and Scarlet as "vaporware" ... little did they know that the biggest players in Hollywood were collectively wagering BILLIONS of dollars on Red's "non-existent" technology!

Oooooooooooooooooooooooh it hurts:smilielol5:

The best part of it, as Jim said, is that unlike time's past -- this is not like Panavision, Vipers or Phantom cams unaccessible to those without hundreds of thousands of dollars to spend on gear.

Thanks Jim and the Red team :-) this is the best time in history to be involved in filmmaking and it's largely because of you ...

Also happy to see Ridley Scott returning to his best genre -- Blade Runner is on my list of one of the greatest films of all time ....

Actually, I remember a certain digital cinema company that made a camera that was used on such films as District 9, Che and the little Pirates of the Caribbean IV. All shot on a camera that we as a tiny production company could afford to own in 2008. That camera cost as much as our previous DVcam camera.

The cinema world is without a doubt about to change once again...proud that one day I will tell my kids I am part of it.

Welcome back Jim...whats the next move :)

Very good!

LOL, Jim your comment reminds me of Mr. T's character Clubber Lang in Rocky 3 ...

Reporter: "Clubber, what's your prediction for the fight?"

Clubber: "Prediction? .... PAIN."

You are a seriously bad mofo when it comes to your cameras :-)

I always thought that Red was going to become the next Panavision.

So let's see the 3D list as it stands currently:

Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides - Rob Marshall
The Hobbit - Peter Jackson
Spiderman - Marc Webb (Perfect last name BTW)
Alien Movie - Ridley Scott

Pretty good lineup if you ask me (more like the best lineup a camera just out of the R&D lab could ask for). I think 3D is what is really going to push Red into the forefront of image acquisition. I'm not a huge fan of 3D but it seems to be getting Red a ton of mainstream exposure.
Yes, it is.

Hope this can be a fact for real with Epic-S too :-)
