Does anyone know of a lens that can be used with RED that will allow shooting a 360 panoramic video?

There are a few products out there suited to security cameras but I was looking for something closer to pro-video level.

Alternatively any tips on a multiple camera set-up that would achieve the same effect.

Hi,

It is as simple as using as lens. See our panoramic lens at www.pano-pro.com Its a new lens that's only been out a few weeks. We can also process video with our software not just stills.

In exchange for some video footage shot with any red camera we will give 15% cash back after purchase.

Please email me at redoffer@pano-pro.com

Wow! Really neat, Thomas!

Hi ZAck,

Thx for the compliment. Thought you were not serious for a minute till I realized that's the signature you use always.

In regard to tekcin's comment I have sent him a message. But he will not have a higher quality panoramic lens. Ours is the sharpest on the market. The only thing I can think he uses is 4 red cameras together, which would give you more resolution, and a sharper picture, but with the new breed of red cameras round the corner that wont be a problem for us for much longer.

Oh, yeah, sorry, forgot about the signature being just right there, LOL!

But yes, I'm really considering a purchase because that just seems too cool to pass up. Makes me wish my brother and I didn't buy Stitcher Unlimited last week, but oh well. Now, I may not personally own a RED camera but, if I rented one for a project or just sent some video from a test RED (ie. Trade show floor, RED store, etc.) could I still qualify for the 15% back offer?

Thomas it's not about sharpness it's about coverage. The fisheye lens we use gives a full circular image that is 360ºx220º. It was developed specifically for projection in immersive dome presentations. Like this...

Nice use or panoramic video in that dome. Though obviously in a dome like that only 360x180 should be used, but that fisheye sounds impressive.

Yes field of view is important as well as sharpness that's why our mirror delivers 360ºx240º. We cut the direct up view out to get more down view. It gives you a better perspective as if your walking along rather that someone who is looking directly up as with the fisheye. There are applications that would suit each lens accordingly.

Sure Zack any footage will do. This offer will be ongoing. We want more than just one piece of test footage, but the more exciting video you can produce the better. Citywalks, going down a ski slope (carefully !!), in a car, on a sail boat, etc. All would be great to be able to have a viewer you can pan and zoom your video in virtually any direction.

pretty neat. we shot crazy timelapses with the one from http://www.0-360.com with a few DSLR cameras...

Thomas you have unwrapper software?
Mike

Mike currently be have to split the video into frames, then our software can automatically process 1000's of frames at once to play in a viewer. By the end of next week we hope to be able to convert the video in realtime, by just playing the avi straight into a panoramic viewer.

Our software is fully working now for just standard still images.

Nice Offer thomas.
Is This For PC users only?

Hi Thomas,

What kind of lens do you need for the Red in order to get the Pano Pro to work? I couldn't find much info about what lenses the pano-pro works best with. The system looks very interesting, but I would like to know more (Like is the adapter on a 19mm or 15mm rod etc?)..

/Regards Peter K
