  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Who ordered EPIC stage 2? Let's try and count?

You can mark me down as having received the email (last week). However, please change my serial number from 1167 to 1168. Also, if you want fewer characters, just call us Artbeats.

Thanks,
Phil

Hey Antonio! The names in red means lucky fellas who took delivery of their EPIC X, right?
The names in yellow, people who have received an e-mail from RED, i guess...
And what does the names in black mean?

Thanks Marco, Jarred and Jim.
I received #326 Epic-X today.
REDONE MX #1740

Good news Chosei... that was a fast turn around. Can't wait to get the notification for mine. I'm sure I'm in the next batch for 1888.

maybe a good idea to add the color coding definitions to the bottom of the post with numbers :)

There's a character limit on posts. Plus one can safely assume that if you're coming to this forum you should already understand that the only color that really matters is RED ;)

Thanks Jake

but once more:
red=received
Yellow=emailed
black=shipping
white=waiting for email

also, I am guessing that Stage 2 Epic X total should be +-1200 Epics...any one else wanna take a guess?

There's roughly 400 on the list here, correct? Assuming that for each of those there's probably 1-2 that didn't report in, so 1200 sounds about right. I'm stage 3 so I was hoping for something around 800-900, but 1200 is probably more realistic.

Also, does it feel like things have slowed down (or maybe just not continued to ramp up as fast as hoped) over the past couple of weeks? For example, based on Chosei's number (Ex326) we can infer that around +-350 were shipped in September. Given the stated 13 minute assembly time, and conservatively calculating 8hr days and 5 day weeks I thought we would have seen around 500-600. And you can easily triple that number if you go to 24 hour days 7 days a week (a schedule some have suggested, although I'm not sure this has been confirmed).

Hopefully all this means that they're training up new teams and we'll see an explosion of Epics in October! Or maybe I just need to stop obsessively checking this thread, clearly I'm just too impatient and probably thinking about this way too much! : )

There was a large increase in Red Ones after the initial release back a few years ago, so that's why production appears to be hanging on stage 2. jimhare suggested that October production numbers will stay steady, and in November we will see a substantial increase in production numbers...
As long as Epic-X Stage 4 reservations begin on or before Dec 31st!

It's probably a quality control step, where at every stage of ramping they hold steady for a bit to make sure that they are capable of producing the cameras at that rate without any muck ups, no point increasing your speed if you sometimes let things through the cracks...doubt RED is that kind of company to begin with so it'll ramp up in November again probably, hopefully...Damnit I want my Stage 3!! Times like this that I wish I went for stage 2...

I realize nobody actually knows anything, but can any of you who are more in tune with this list than I am hazard a guess based on anything from current numbers to moon phases as to when I'd be likely to get my Stage 3 notification for a RED One bought in February 2009? I imagine that puts me pretty far back in line, right? At some point I had guessed early October, based on some of the things said about expected production speed, but that seems crazy now.

Here's the way I'm looking at, maybe it applies for you as well...

We start with the serial #(I know they're going in order of delivery, but we don't have numbers for that and unless you greatly delayed R1 delivery then serial # should be somewhat indicative - take it with a grain of salt).

So in my case #2185 (July '08) stage 3:

Guesstimating that we'll likely see 1200 or more stage 2 people and in front of me maybe another 1000-1500 that opted for stage 3 that puts me somewhere around 2200 - 3000 (keeping in mind stage 2 folks can't also do stage 3).

Then we can look at the highest sn# Epic that has been delivered - Chosei Ex326 (last I checked). That tells us that last month they delivered roughly 326-350.

So at that current pace it would take 3 more months to clear the remaining stage 2 orders - assuming our hypothetical # of 1200. But when things do ramp up, you can image that they'll double and then tripple that number each month.

But for now I'd try to estimate where you actually sit in line (how many are in front of you, stage 2 and 3) and then watch the Epic-X serial numbers of those that report here. The serial # of those being delivered seems like the best indicator of pace right now.

Epic-X #00311 has arrived.
What a beautiful piece of workmanship.

That makes sense, but isn't stage 4 supposed to be available before the end of 2011? If clearing stage 2 is 3 months down the road, or even 2 months, then how would stage 3 finish before 2012?

It's actually better for me if I can't do the exchange until December because I'm at a university and it's way easier to do this stuff between semesters, but I would be pretty bummed if this didn't happen until February or something (Forgive me, all, for writing those words).

I wonder if they will offer Dragon sensor upgrades according to some sort of Epic X Stage 2 and Stage 3 shipping eligibility?
