  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Who has received scarlet x

Do we have any idea how far behind the orders will be?

Like, if I were to order now would it be a January shipment or an April+ shipment?
 
I think people can wait a few more days until RED calls them and wait a few more weeks until its in their hands.
 
I have a small artsy personal project to shoot over Thanksgiving weekend. Quick and easy, but fairly harsh weather conditions.

I have to use many types cameras for a living, but I'm hoping that's the last thing I personally shoot that's not shot on Red. I don't think I'll shoot anything on Super35 come 2012, but never say never. There will be nearly zero advantage to shooting on HDSLRs next year either unless I'm doing timelapse work.

Basically I don't want to shoot sub 4k on projects ever again.

Unless your projects involve >24fps or HDRx of course :)

I ordered mine on the 4th ( too many computer issues to order it on the 3rd) and I still have not heard from RED yet.
 
Is there any body (reduser) who have been contacted by red in regards to fulfilling their Scarlet order?

Me I'm still waiting (Al Canon Mount)

If you got the conformation email when you placed your order online, then the best thing to do is wait. They will call you when your camera is ready. It's not even the 17th or the 1st yet, so patience please. Its gonna be awesome.
 
you know, Jim said that they are going to handle the shipping problem as this is the only big issue with RED...delays.... I trust him.
I don't think that they are going to be late again. They announced dates for shipping we should all be patient until these dates.
If they are late, then we will have the right to complain and call the BomB Squad.
But for now I suppose that they are hard working to get all the things done for the big day.

I may say also something .... that's true, some people will get their SCARLET first, even if they are not the first in the list.... why ?
I'm 100% sure that people in US will get their scarlet after EUROPE due to all customs problems... what is more RED UK is not a big company with thousand of worker so they will need more time to send all the cameras... and that's why I'm saying that people will get them first... But that's ok ! I just want my camera and start to test it soon or later !
Just don't want to wait too long for some accessories to arrive as I have done for the EVF 2... waited almost 2 years...

The main thing for me is to catch this camera and see how it reacts with lights, actors, and everything...
Because we all bought a camera which is totally unknown for now.... we have not seen any full feature or hard test from it ...
and that's the real deal ...not the shipping one...

How much do you want to bet Scarlet supports 4k HDRx at 24fps sometime next year? Think compressed x track. It would also not surprise me in the least if RED gets Scarlet up to 24/25fps at 5k (though it may require a Dragon upgrade). You are right about the high resolution high frame rate stuff. That will always be Epic territory.

Use your favour wisely!! I'm still grateful for your lens/crop factor charts, you should see if can get privilege status. I think your high up, see if you can get an advanced version.

And I don't think we ever will, it's like film, when you have it your problems are gone. Same with RED, never ever have I complained about it being "soft" unless it was out of focus, or that it's range stinks, unless someone without knowing way over exposed it.

It's game over, has been since 2008.

thank you Jim. If you had not pushed we would STILL be shooting h264 CRAP and calling it "pro" ha ha ha what a joke.
 
I was one of the first internet orders, and I have the Ti PL mounts, so hopefully, I can get my Scarlet before thanksgiving.

That would be EPIC ;)
 
Nope. But a few bits and pieces of my accessories order have started to get packed up for shipping (Media, Reader, Red Touch LCD, B2-B1 cable)...

Lol. Very true. I've been thinking carefully about what that favor entails. I grew up in an Italian family. Favors are always serious business.

I was out the Scarlet X release event and placed an order fairly early, so my fingers are crossed, but I expect nothing.

However, I will say that all "butt kissing" aside, Red's already done a huge favor for me. Their cameras have helped me stay employed and working in features. I don't know how to return that favor :)
