Which operations need a Epic-W to shut down.
I know a few operations like changing Lens Mounts, OLPFs, Module Installations etc..
As we Frequently change peripherals during shoot.

Operations

Lens Change ? (For Lens MetaData recognition) Hot swappable?
Display Monitor Change?
Battery Change?
Audio and other Cable Changes?
Handle Changes?

Anyone? I know the questions are naive, but it bothers me when changing lenses. Since Canon lenses have some data connections.
Do I need to shut down.?

- Lens Change: Nope. Lens Mount Change, YES.
- Display Change/Unplug: Nope.
- Battery Change: Well if it's the only source of power, YES. But if you have a hot swap system (like the REDVOLT Expander) or provide DC power IN, Nope.
- Audio Cables, Nope.
- Side Handle (or anything electronic like the Sidekick), YES.

Hope that helps.

Can you eject the SSD while the camera is off, without ejecting it in the camera before turning it off?

Yes.
I assume a shutdown includes a "unmount" Procedure so if camera is off the mag is not involved in any data transfers and it´s safe to remove.

Yes, a Normal shutdown (and Low-Power shutdown ) quiesces the file system, but if there is an unexpected shutdown, Battery failure or power interruption, then the file system may have errors or the last r3d file might suffer corruption if the camera was recording at the time.
