  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Weapon won't boot with Canon Mount attached

Hello All,

Weapon is awesome and working fine with the Mg PL mount attached. Anyway, had a potential need for some canon lenses, but when the Canon mount is installed on the camera the lights on the side just flash in error but the camera does not boot. Anybody have any similar issues? Is the camera not compatible with the Canon mount yet?

I just rented my Stealth, with my PL and Canon mounts-no issue with the mounts. I do remember that RED was offering a fee based evaluation of any existing mounts that the end user may have had (beyind the one sent in with the camera), when the Weapon/Stealth camera upgrade, at least, was in process. I did not send my Canon mount in for eval., however, and it worked out for me. I vaguely remember that there may have been, but this may not be correct, some change in the mount at a certain production date. Probably gotta call RED tech.

I did not have that issue, but after the new firmware upgrade it did take a minute or more to upgrade the firmware in the Canon mount. So maybe its a firmware issue with the mount. What build are you on?
 
Thanks guys. Turns out it was a firmware issue with the mount. All is working now.

Camera will auto update any accessory requiring a new firmware upon launching / detecting them and will let you know once done (usually need a reboot after update)

On the Weapon it did not say it was updating. It didn't boot and just flashed the lights in a sequence. When it was done it rebooted and claimed success but for a while did not know it was happening which we why we thought it refused to boot.
 
That flashing is totally normal but a tad scary when you're not expecting it :)
 
Hey kind of the same but different.
Just put the PL Motion Mount on my Weapon today for the first time and it won't recognize the Mount. Nothing. I have cleaned the contacts, tried to reload firmware, Reconnect, and just about everything else.
The other funny part is that my Canon Motion Mount worked the other day and then did the same as the PL but after the Firmware reload and a Reconnect it is now working just fine but the PL MM is still a no go.
Anyone have any issues with their Motion Mounts with the New 6.2.44 FW.... Kind of thinking its the Mount now the Canon one works.
