  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Weapon invades Hawaiian Islands for shoot with Crash and Dino

it actually says 6k, the iPhone does not do so well with very high contrast like that...

in terms of boot up times, i would say with the alpha firmware it was a little slower than dragon, but honestly i did not time it so i do not know for sure....

Here is a shot of the fool control working.

Also forgot to talk about how easy it was to manage a slate in fool control...notice the word " round top" on the bottom left hand side...that is our location...that info is embedded into the metadata forever!!!! Sweet!

so awesome and I'm very excited. need my weapon w 8k to be here with me. just about finished switching all my lenses to FF coverage. that app looks like it will come in handy. can multiple cams link to app? If i have a b and c cam?

The app can list several camera if they are on the same network (router) and connect to each as needed (one after the other).

Without a router each camera will create its own wifi network so you have to switch your iPhone / iPad to the camera you wish to control. It works the same but takes a bit more time to switch from A to B and in general thise Ad Hoc network can sometimes be painful to reconnect to after a battery change.... Using a router is much faster and overall easier.

I would have to agree. although the app was great it was sometimes hard to connect to the ad hoc network that the camera created for a number of reasons...first being lots of competing networks. 2nd - too many things between the camera and the phone, i.e. steadicam operator, steadicam rig, 7" monitor, 1st Ac and the list goes on. i will try and use a network next time and connect the camera and phone to the same.

Dino,

Can you talk about the Pro-Res files?

-P

No... Thank you!!

Some people think I am obsessed more with the "MAKING OF" then with the final products itself, but I truly love the art, and when I am not well enough to go out and shoot, all I have to feed my passion, other then writing Screenplays, is to watch the work of others...

And looking at other filmmaker's BTS, gives me pleasure and puts my mind were I wanted to be... Making me fill as if I am outer shooting with them.... So yeah, Thanks!!

Is the auto-cal function a weapon only feature or accessible with foolcontrol ?

If you own a weapon or use a weapon on set, you MUST buy Fool Control! It is a life saver. Particularly for a run and gun shoot w no VTR but with a client. The thumbnail view is unreal for quick access to the last 20 clips. Setup is easy and quick! And u literally have full control. Very important when u can't see a monitor but you need to watch exposure. Another unreal feature is the Auto-Black Balance. When it kicked In the first time Crash and I looked at each other and exchanged non G-rated words in unison. Operationally, when u calibrate, the camera goes thru each potential shutter and frame rate. Once it is captured it will automatically load the proper Cal when u change either the frame rate or shutter! The auto cal takes about 30 mins...but well worth it, I suggest you calibrate at prep once the camera is up to temp. The "E" in the "T/E" indicator turns red when u change the shutter or frame rate, but the 30 seconds or less later....it goes freakin GREEN....unbelievable.

It takes 30 seconds for the auto calibrate to do it's "thing" after you change speeds?

less, red is saying 7 seconds, i did not time it but it is something like 7 to 15 seconds.
