  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Hey guys,
With Jetpack Expander can take power from the Ronin and I can use WEAPON and the Cinegears focus together?
I try to understand if the battery of RONIN can do it?

Yep! Clyde (from RED) was demoing this set-up at the show. ...not sure if it was a Ronin or a MŌVI.

...not sure about cinegears. The Demo had a Element Technica two Chanel (prototype) controller that controlled focus and iris through the RED mount. It was a little buggy but still pretty freakin sweet!

Phil,
so you're telling me that the camera was powered by a separate battery and not from the battery of ronin?
I do not understand then what can serve this Jetpack!
In the post Mikael I can guess that the focus gears with DTaP (i hope) , but the Weapon where to take power?

RONIN + JETPACK WEAPON and prototype FOOLCONTROLER focus/iris knobs with start stop, range limits, custom button mapping etc...
Proto box made with amazing guys at RVZ using RTMOTION knobs.

Clyde is taking the unit I had in the booth to Coachella duting the week end to field test it...

Hi,

Bit of digression but can anyone chime in with knowing if the new Ronin M will work with Dragon Epic once stripped down to just ssd module, canon mount and canon L 24mm lens?

Ronin M - yes will handle the Dragon/Weapon - was being demo'd on the NAB floor and pretty sure that was the setup that Clyde was running in the RED Booth.
 
I found this.

The Weapon is supplied from a lipo ....
I do not understand what configuration is !! Better a normal Dragon with sidehandle and redvolt.
It would have been very nice if you could feed all the Ronin.

I understand most are curious mostly for the Weapon in this thread. But how would one go about running a current Dragon on the Ronin M with power other than the RV or Brick to keep the weight in check?

Add to that our "GI" V-lock (and potentially Gold mount / LiPo) and you are all set...

Current Epic / Scarlet are too heavy for the M Ronin - you need to use the "normal" Ronin.

The M Ronin was developed to serve cameras in the weight category bellow Epic / Scarlet. Otherwise it would just be Ronin "2". The current Ronin (non M) has some of the highest payload capacity in the industry at 16 lbs - the Ronin M can fly 8 lbs. Think of the Ronin as the Movi M15 (Ronin "L") and the Ronin M as the Movi M10 (the M stands for "medium"). I personally think this is good move by DJI as it leaves room for Ronin S to be developed later for the smallest cameras like GoPro and compact point-and-shoot varieties. And eventually an XL model for full-size pro cameras like Alexa, Varicam, etc...

Weapon just happens to be small and light enough to be carried by the Ronin M in a limited weight configurations (forget using cine zoom lenses). The Ronin M was not developed specifically for it...

The body is 5lbs add in a light lens like a rokinon and it'd fit wouldn't it? I thought someone was saying earlier that there was a demo of it at NAB, maybe it was just a Weapon.
 
If the monitor is attached by cable to the 'fixed' handlebars (from Luigi's post #11) ... what is the benefit of strapping a LiPo battery underneath the camera?

+) Why not use the wires to put the lipo battery on the fixed handlebars ... and make the package lighter?

+) Is there an iOS version of Google Glass that can project what is in the Camera Frame + Wireless HDMI input? Would this be a more effective setup than having a large monitor screen on the handles? (I'm a complete newbie .. just trying to work out what the ideal setup might be)

Being that the jetpack expander is, essentially, built-in to Scarlet/Epic, wouldn't it be just as light?

The Ronin-M weight limit is 8lbs, I think... So as long as you're within that weight limit, you should be good to go, no?

I would hope that the ET EF Focus unit works with DSMC via REDlink or HotBox... Mikael can you confirm that?

My proto box to use thumbwheels for iris/focus/startstop works as well on WEAPON and EPIC / SCARLET.
Clyde should soon post some feedback from his testing during week end at Coachella but I heard it was a treat...
Looking into the various production options to make this solution available at the soonest since everyone who tried it wants one right now :-)
