Oh and remember that thread on Viewfactor forums that listed the order numbers for the Inclino and Impero? Its been removed. Was somebody smart enough to cut and paste and save that list somewhere?

Thanks Tony for posting those links. It has suddenly made this thread interesting again.

Curt set out to achieve everything he promised. He promised more than he delivered. That was a mistake. I have an impero working for over a year and a half with the Birger Mount. Its taken its time in becoming a very good system but it is a very good system and delivered what Birger/Vf set out to do.

When I ordered my Birger Mount and then my VF system it was in the hope that one of them would get me a working FF by NAB 2008. It took a little longer for something to turn up but it did. I learned along the way that getting this great stuff at such an inexpensive cash price has a cost in patience.

I did seek my money back when the Birger/impero became viable but I let Curt talked me out of it. I still believed in his determination to get the product out and I still wanted an inclino/impero option. I still do.

Sure, Curt could have done things better but he's an inventor not a communicator. He's a very good inventor and I'm glad that that is where he has put his energy. If he were a better communicator he might have sent us all personal emails with daily updates but I'm glad he didn't waste his time and mine with that. It might make him a better communicator but it wouldn't have gotten me my FF.

I'm sure he will invent a truly honorable way out of this pickle and I trust my patience will pay off. I wish Vf all the best of good luck with their current ventures and I'm confident they will honor their debt. Right now, it looks like he's doing everything he can to generate income and build up his resources and good luck to him.

I can certainly understand everyone's frustration, but I'm with Billy on this. Well put...

I think the best thing Curt can do for his business is to hire someone with better communication and administrative skills. I've heard a lot of successful business people give advice on how to become a success and they all agree on one point: you can't do everything by yourself. Create a group of talented people that inspires each other and magic will happen. Also - it's better to hire an inexperienced grad-student with people-skills than a dorky engineer with a personality disorder ;-)

Personally - I'd rather own 5% of a success than 100% of a failure.

I still want to believe Curt will make this right.

OK, that is 1 refund out of a couple hundred orders. Consider yourself lucky. Any others?

I was going to ride it out, but after the horrible way units were shipping out of order I started calling every week because Curt would tell me i think i saw your
order as shipping next week call back, then ooh i think i saw yours on the table.

Three weeks of being lied to was enough to ask for my refund which took 5 months.

That not bad customer service thats just wrong

I don't disagree with you Paul, it is wrong. It is wrong if Curt was telling you what you wanted to hear in order to swindle your money but this isn't the case, is it? I suspect that if Curt had costed the development and customer service correctly I wouldn't have been able to afford the system. I kind of knew there was a risk, didn't everyone? I took a chance on Curt and so far he hasn't delivered but I'm happy that he has given it his best shot and I'm confident that he will continue to do that. What else can he do?

There's a difference between telling people what you would like to believe and lying to them. Curt promised more than he could deliver. I don't know any filmmaker who doesn't do that all the time in the hope that they can make it come true. Mostly, we can't, but when we do we make something beautiful and then its worth it? When we don't, we fall out with people and say we will never work with them again but we usually do.

I can see that Curt has infuriated you but he didn't cheat you, it just didn't work out that well. It happens all the time in every kind of transaction. When you invest in an untested system from an unknown company all you can hope is that they are not shysters. Two years ago VF seemed to have the ability and imagination to make great gear at a great price. That hasn't changed. It's not that it is wrong, it just went wrong. I'm happy to see Curt isn't a quitter and he's up there selling his stuff and getting on with it. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger. Let's give him the space to put it right. I'm sure he will.

I also asked for, and got, a refund, but that was about a year ago. It came within a few weeks. No issues.

I am using his Impero with the Birger mount and I love it. It's a great product for sure. Just wish everyone in that love-triangle had worked things out. . . RED, Viewfactor, Birger. . . there's not a lot of love there anywhere, I'm afraid. I consider that a great loss to the RED community.

Have to agree. Funny enough I still have some hope... Something makes me like them... don't know what

EDIT: was quoting 'a great loss to the RED community'

i never said he cheated me, i was a supporter for a over a year and a half.
What i said is he lied to me. I ask for a refund initially and Curt said 2 weeks,
so i said fine....then the events of the previous post occured.

I have said before Curt will deliver i am sure but not to me

Like Constantine I have a system with many functions not working. BUT Curt is on to something. These motors are beautiful and a PRO controller somewhere down the line
would be a dream. Curt , or any start up company, can only take so many punches before they fall down. I pray you can keep on standing Curt. When we have spoken on the phone or via Email Curt was always a genuine man, honest man and this whole mess makes us all upset but IF YOU CAN hold and wait do it. Buy a preston, Bartek single motor and when your Imperos/inclinos are ready you'll have an ass kicking 3- motor system for your second camera . We ALL have been kicked in the ass over the last few years by a global recession, Curt learned a tough lesson about outsourcing but things are getting better. I hope Curt can get a few more of these motors into AC's hands, they are great. The controller?????? who knows at this point.
Curt I wish you luck and you are the last guy anyone who has talked to you would demonize. that could have been solved with a weekly post to all of your forums. just post once a week. short and sweet then the choice is left to the customer. You were so distant from this forum that a mass exodus was bound to happen.
Curt I wish you ,Caroline and John well. I hope you keep on fighting the fight you make a GREAT product. I think for a slightly higher price-point you will sell them when you are 100% there. And then a 3 wheel controller... please.
Peace

....and you'll know by fall

The cage is just about as complicated as the Origo, which has been shipping for over two years. There's really "nothing" to it so I expect this thing to be actually shipping in 3-4 weeks. If he fails to bring it to market within that time-frame then he will have lost what is commonly referred to as "first-mover's advantage" ;-) Lots of other manufacturers bringing DSLR cages to the market.

Im not mistrusting him bringing it to the market. If you read the post you'll see that Im referring to him answering an email... or any email...

Got it. E-mailed him yesterday and got an answer within the hour and follow-up questions within minutes...

Good for you, maybe he doesn't owe you any money. As for me the communication stopped as soon as he did.

Edit: and even stayed silent when I offered my money again.
