Not waiting. Just vaguely hoping that one day the money we lost might turn up in one form or another....

lol....I didn't get much of that, but I think that they are bitching about not receiving their Viewfactor FF units and that Curt continues to work on other products rather than the one he has taken so much money up front on without delivering anything. Pretty sad.

Pretty sad.

Yes, it's a sad situation. No one wins.

What is the honorable course? Just write off money paid to VF and move on, or continue to support the company in the hopes that they will grow strong enough to actually ship working units, and perhaps more importantly, service those in the field.

If VF's record of performance is common industry knowledge, how will rentals of their gear fare? Will renters accept the VF units or demand something of known reliability? If the latter, then renters will lose as well.

If an owner/operator uses the VF unit, how will they receive service? Has this situation changed?

I'm relieved that I jumped ship just in time to receive a refund, but feel an obligation to others, my fellows in this business. We need to take care of one another.

The truth isn't always welcome, but it's always the truth.

Good shooting and best regards,

Leo

its fairly obvious that this Guy is developing other products so he wont go out of business and at the same time come back to his old customers when he has the founds to do this.
its also fairly obvious that if he doesnt do this he will go out of business.
Last he is not a crook that took the money and run.
From the3 above the conclusion is that he will deliver after he is overcome the problems.
As I said I have also a none fully functioning unit , with a slow motor and no good communication.
I have decided to wait for what ever comes.
If not I will try and exchange the unit to new products he makes and are available.
At least I will have something back.
I dont even know if I can have that option. But I will ask for it as soon as he is done with the rest of his new upcoming gear. Maybe its better this way.
Best

I'm modeling the tool inserts and sending them to the tooler in LA. They are going to model the final tooling redesign (placing our M.U.D. tool inserts into a larger tool holder that they will manufacture for us. It will allow us to have one big tool instead of several small tools. Basically it allows us to shoot all the parts in one shot rather than having to pay change out fees for every tool change. I'm also working on a couple solutions on the side that I'm mulling over. One of the other options I'm looking at is making a more conventional worm drive version of the inclino that would be the "Pro" version... we would give this one to all the folks waiting on the current design. Working out the logistics and trying to see CNC'ing the billet aluminum is going to be a faster path than using the tooling.

My 2 cents, since I have a CNC milling machine and I have seen Curt's very nice mill, I think milling would be faster. If it runs 8 hours a day you can cut 3-25 complicated pieces a day thats a lot in a week and enough to make a huge dent in a month or two.

Curt get a decent machinist in there (I can recommend one) and grind the stuff out. Actually, you will free your self up to do what you do best, design and write code....!

Best,
Rich

Hi Albert,
Are you selling because you're unhappy with the performance of the system? Can you give any feedback on how it's worked for you?
Cheers,
Dan

Hey. No problem. Actually Im very happy with the system. It performs well, and has a nice "cal" (calibrate) button that makes everything easy (like the preston, except $20,000 less). I like the bartech as well (solid) but you have to do the manual calibration every time. This system makes lens changes go by well. One of my complaints is the size of the motor, but on the other hand, it has no problem spinning ultras and masterprimes, so I dont complain TOO much there. ;)

Im selling it because Im working on a level now where most of my shoots allow a fair budget for renting equipment, so I dont find myself using my own personal wireless FF anymore. For most shoots I just ask for a preston fiz and they'll get it. So this VF ends up just sitting. Only been out twice- sadly.

Hope that helped a bit!
take care

Np. It was bought from the company I work for, about a year ago. We bought Prestons, Bartechs, and Viewfactors. So naturally we kept using the Prestons to the point where the viewfactors and bartechs were just sitting (hence it only went on 2 shoots or so). So I dont know what number in line it was, it was about a year ago.

I hope that helps.
