  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

I really do hope they actually bring out a product but can't help but feel like this is a tactic to keep people at bay and by some more time.

Show some 3D renders now, promise shipping units soon and then go back to whatever else he is doing... people start to post asking what is going on... and the cycle repeats itself

Curt had my money for over 2 years and I have nothing to show for it. Even my bank would have given me something in return for using my money for 2 years.
 
Did you notice the the Impero/Inclino are now called Pro (see names of the jpeg files on the link to CVB's announcement?

Here are the features that the Pro model was supposed to have as of July 2007:

Wireless (Zigbee) and Wired control options - wireless range: 1Mile in open, 300 ft indoors
Encrypted transmission - avoids radio interference and no addressing is necessary (no dips to set)
Mono Graphical LCD - full user interface with numerous features that are easily upgradeed
Modular design - all control axis are assignable to any of the three input devices (Force sensor, Knob, or Capacitive slider), right or left handed operation
Solid construction - water resistant magnesium case, o-ring seals, minimal mechanical components
3 channel simultaneous control
Motion control functionality - record and repeat moves, goto preset positions automatically, settings for speed and easing
Removable battery pack, rechargeable via usb connection
Lens database - choose a preset lens to auto calibrate the motors to a given lens. Fully upgradeable via usb or SD card.
Receiver unit accepts 12V-24V power source and connects to three motors, includes usb connection for use with certain digital cinema cameras
Receiver has an internal amplifier for control of legacy lens motors.
Receiver unit dimensions are approx. 3.5"x2.6"x0.75"
**Lens Breathing Compensation (LBC) - during a rack focus, zoom motor compensations for breathing to keep framing consistent
**Works with Mirus motion control system - Record FIZ tracks separately or during a moco shot
**Full control of camera functions

** This functionality may not be in place at time of shipping but will be enabled through future software releases.
 
Nice to hear from you Curt. I had all but written you off, but did not want to kill your company and my slim chance with a refund. The new gear looks at lot better and more robust. When do you plan to deliver order nr 31?
And a little piece of advice: Start communicating here,on a weekly basis, to try and rebuild peoples trust. Even if you only have bad news.
 
I had a brief moment where I was truly angry LOL. I've settled again though hahahaa. I'm not really pissed off regarding the money. The way I see it. Is you take chances in life and business. We went in, more or less knowingly, that it was a venture. What I did though feel was let down. As there was poor/ or more or less no communication. I wish the guys could be a little tougher - I understand them - they've probably completely felt like total shits and usually when you do - you bury yourself even further.

What I do admire though is that they're still trying. I know they're honest guys who really wants this to work. It also looks like the rocky road has taught them one or two things. As it's looking nicely and actually "pro". I've heard birds singing that they're getting closer, but who knows - this is not something you just whip up in one day. As most of us has learnt by now LOL.
 
Not only is the thread no longer reachable, but if you had posted on that thread, your posts are no longer available in your own profile. I have posted in threads that have been closed by a moderator. Those are still viewable and the thread is still reachable. So this is something different. Can someone from REDUSER explain please?

** 7/02/11: Motors are now running on production driver boards

Things are moving along, lets hope the updates keep coming.

To answer the question about the other thread, Jarred killed it. I can understand why. While it did have the current updates, etc.. It still wasn't fully up to date and it was turning into a re-hash of this thread. As long and miserable as this thread is, it still sums everything up. We're all still waiting. What has given me the most renewed hope has been the recent venture between ViewFactor and Brook Willard for EPIC accessories. These accessories, DSLR cages, etc.. are what's keeping VF afloat and allowing them to continue building the FF systems.
 
This thread was dead for 4 months and now it's revived with all the latest updates/photos/info missing.... How can it sum everything up?

Besides, this thread is the definition of re-hashing. All the 324 pages could be 50 or less and nobody would miss a thing.

I don't understand what the motive behind deleting the new thread was.

And the new (deleted) thread was already a few pages of the same crap we have in here. IT SERVED NO PURPOSE. If it wasn't a textbook definition of rehash, I don't know what would be.

OK, I guess newcomers to the this saga would only have to skip to the end of 380 posts instead of over 3200 posts to learn that we're really no better off than we were 2+ years ago.

I'm as invested in this as anyone. I'm #11 on the Mirus Moco Head reservation list, if that even still exists. Curt owes me a 3-motor FF system or a refund check, whichever he can send to me first. At this point I honestly don't care. The refund is probably more practical, but I keep buying new cameras and could use more gear. So FF kit would be fine too.. If it works as promised -- I'm not willing to be a beta tester after waiting almost 3.5 years and counting.

Curt seems like a nice guy, I've always said that. I'm glad he also seems to be a stand-up guy that isn't going to run. He's still around, still making product, and that counts for something. I'm sure those FF systems will actually ship out some day. But we have seen promises, pictures, etc.. before.
 
CVB posted that 250 sets of production gears have arrived (including pix). He also posted that the promised video will be out Mid-July (which would be tomorrow or so).
 
Yeah I see that viewfactor is almost finished with the motors... How about the controller? Is there any progress with the new version?
 
No news from me, I'm not involved with the motors. The parts that we are making are built on different equipment than the motors, so there is no delay caused by time spent on my Epic accessories.

All I can say is that every time I swing by the shop I see more and more parts and progress. That's from the outside looking in though, I'm not connected with the motors in any way.

Sorry, Brook, I did not mean to say you were involved with the motors, I just knew you and Curt are working together on other Epic parts. So thank you for taking the time to tell us what you have seen. It does help.
