Hey Jarred,

I noticed that the Helium sensor upgrade for the Weapon CF is priced at around $5k. For those of us who paid $10k for 8K VV and end up deciding we don't want VV after putting the Helium sensor in our camera, is there any kind of rebate or store credit for the price difference? Only asking out of curiosity, not trying to sound ungrateful or anything. I am super appreciative of the opportunity to use Helium while we wait for 8K VV!

I believe I read somewhere that they will refund the difference.

Already answered, They will refund the VV deposit and then charge for the Helium upgrade.

The new ERA has begun... lots of folks with grab this HELIUM sensor Cameras... I am saving until Dec 31st, and so are many.... What's next? I think Jarred will focus on maximizing the Helium sensor potential, maybe faster data rates mags, followed by improved electronics, and more FPS in the near future for those who love to upgrade and stay at top of the game... I think FPS is on RED's mind at this point...

Sunday random thinking... I am still a bit hungover from last nite party and maybe that's why I thought of FPS... I am in SLOWMO as we speak! LOL

So I assume all the Helium 8K cameras that were available went to the Scarlet W upgraders who never got thier cameras. I'm guessing that MG-W to Helium upgrades are at the back of the line and pretty far out still.

I tried to search for this answer but couldn't find it, although I'm sure someone asked already... quick question for Scarlet-W to Epic-W upgrade:
On RED's support page for upgrading it says

Send in your camera BRAIN with the front body cap installed ONLY

Does that mean I should also remove the SSD Media bay? I know the Epic-W comes with media bay so I'm assuming I keep that on the S-W before sending it back?

Jason. On cameras like the SW, the brain includes the media bay just like how it's sold at RED.

Hey Jarred, I've been seeing a lot of older cameras being sold used with "upgradeable to Epic-W" advertised. Is this the case? I was under the impression that these cameras are only upgradeable for people who had them registered to their account pre-Oct 11th. I'd hate for someone to buy one thinking they can upgrade it and then be left high and dry.

I placed the upgrade order to Epic-W on 11 oct. few seconds after the "opening" and I'm still waiting.

Whomever wants the special pricing better have been owner of record prior to Oct 11.

Me: Will that also be the pecking order when VV sensors are allocated? Or is that just for the Helium S35 8K "tide overs"?

Perhaps I misunderstood, or incorrectly extrapolated from this NAB 2015 time frame post:
