  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Upgrade Paths

On an all day road trip so sorry if this has been asked already, but how long is this upgrade program going to last? I just got my RED One MX a few months ago so I'm excited that there's a very generous path for me to RED 8K but I'm going to have to wait until after my first feature is done to see if I can afford the $19,500 jump upwards. :)

I wanna say Dec 31st?

Talked to Barbara at SoCal Financing. Basically, from my understanding about the "drunken" financing 12 month 0% APR: Fixed one year term. They are happy to offer longer term plans if you can't swing the one year term. Not sure if you get one year at 0% APR and then whatever additional months you want at a set APR, but I imagine it does NOT include one year at 0% APR plus APR % for additional months.

Take whatever amount you're asking for e.g. $19,950 and divide by 12 and that's your monthly payment which means you pay $1,662.50 per month for 12 months. Don't forget it will be higher if you have sales tax for those of us in CA.

Barbara said that this financing is a tier one level meaning you have to have amazing credit. There is an application process (obviously) for you to be vetted which includes first page copies of your bank statements for the last three months. There is a $535 documentation fee also required in addition where $100 of the $535 is a non-refundable credit processing fee.

If you have the cash flow, this is a great deal and you'd have to be drunk yourself not to avail yourself of it.

I'm going to use my 0% APR credit card which has a longer term on it and save myself the $535.

Hope this helps anyone wondering how the "drunken" financing works (at least with SoCal Financing).

Act fast, because Barbara indicated that there are only so many spots for this offer till year's end.

Thank you for the details. Answered basically all the questions I had.

I wonder what the terms of the financing are? We looked into the Sony F55 financing a while back, was actually a lease, and the terms were just weird. We backed out for a lot of reasons.

SUUUUUPER helpful. Thanks for sharing!

If anyone gets an answer on whether you can do 0% for the first 12 months of a longer term, I'd be keen to know.

$535/$19,950 = 2.6% APR. So a good rate, comparable to a new car loan. But ultimately not 0%. Hmm.

I have a carbon fiber weapon how do I upgrade to the VISTA VISION . I don't see any path that's why I bought the carbon fiber .

Vista vision orders are closed indefinitely until red catches up with orders, they say it will take a while

Sorry if I was unclear or misunderstood your path. Simply put, WEAPON Mg going to WEAPON CF 8K should be sensor upgrade of $9500 plus ~$15K to move to the internal boards and CF construction of a CF camera. So, over $25K. You are getting this offer for $15K. Or saving $10K. If you prefer to not save the $10K and get the mount and SIDEKICK, I will personally make that exception for you!

Don't take it the wrong way - I definitely appreciate the upgrade and agree it has great value, I'm excited to be going to the 8K Helium sensor plus the CF brain. I placed the order when it went live.

Just wanted to clear up what I understood was the offer.

Any chance for a sidekick upgrade offer? Send in the MG for the CF version? Would match the camera better.

That's brilliant news. But is there also an upgrade path from SCARLET-X to SCARLET-W? A very short time after I purchased my Scarlet, only a few months were left for upgrading to a Dragon and I simply didn't have the funds after the initial purchase. It would be a great deal for me if there still was an upgrade path for SCARLET-X owners who want to upgrade to a SCARLET-W.

Brent has said don't bet on it. Currently only S-X -> E-W

So what's the time estimate looking like for day 1 Scarlet deposit holders at this point? Seems like everything in stock was gone before my Rep could even respond to my email.
