  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Upgrade Paths

I've searched and searched, so I apologize for not being able to find this question or answer...

When do you anticipate the upgrade process to happen? I swear I had to be one of the first people to click on the "upgrade EPIC Dragon to EPIC-W" link...yet I haven't heard anything yet.

I'm not exactly sure, but I have a feeling they will be upgrading all the WEAPON MG Camera orders first, which I do not think has begun yet. But I'm sure when the process begins your rep will be reaching out, Until then Enjoy the EPIC DRAGON!

Well you can scratch off Raven as there hasn't been any Raven allocations from RED directly since 9/21/16 for pre-orders placed on 11/27/15. Seems to be that some dealers are receiving Ravens, but as far as direct from RED, it seemed to have stopped since end of September.

I hadn't realized that... I thought Ravens were shipping. Maybe it's related to Raven not sharing the same body design as the other DSMC2 cameras?

I guess Red's production capacity is still pretty saturated.
 
I actually was just notified by my rep that I'm going to be issued an RMA for my Epic Dragon to go in for the upgrade.

Well, it looks like they will be doing Dragons to Ws first... MG to 8K hasn't started yet. :(

Doesn't make too much economic justice going that route when 5k extra would get an MG into WH which BTW is a CF body, different internals plus its eligible for VV swappable program when RED opens that gate
 
Not sure if this is relevant now but you guys should look into Numerica Capital, and other equipment financing options. These companies take risks on niche private contractors/sole proprietors. . I actually found them through a RED authorized dealer here in LA, Hot Rod Cameras. They were pretty much my last bet, all the other major financial institutions/loan offices denied me, from South California Leasing to major banks and credit unions.. I went with all sorts of options, additionally I'm fortunate enough to have a home that i inherited with a ton of paid off/free equity, however, even then my credit/FICOS scores wouldn't qualify me from any lender, small or large, even with that level of collateral. . But after 6 months of denial, i stayed persistent and the day AFTER I put my deposit in at my dealer of choice George at Numerica Capital contacted me and got me settled for my $12,875 financing plan for a minimal S-W package. It helped that I had put in me deposit the day before, it helped show them how "serious" I was.

All I had to do was put a down payment of $4200.00 (-1000 refundable deposit) due to my dodgey history to lower the risk on their end, then Direct Deposit payments to pay of the remaining amount. There is a good buyout option half-way through the term of that's an option I take. .. My monthly payments are $315.00. . MUCH lower than the best options I had for loans through banks. (The ones I eventually didn't qualify for).

What I do realize is your loan/financing officer has to be savy, its really THEM who "sell" your story to the underwriters, you want an experienced officer to easily be able to translate your buisness/goals. Production savy is a plus, Geroge and Numerica is just that, savy and passionate about helping filmmakers.

Deposited to my dealer on Nov. 22nd, Got approved for a financing plan Nov. 23rd, by the 25th I had added to my original S-W "Brain only" order and added a Monitor/meida/mount, got allocated a day later, now Im waiting on shipping. . (I do think I would have my Brain already had I not made it a package) haha.
 
I can't remember, does the $10,000 discount to upgrade from SW to EW end on Dec 31? Can't get a hold of my Rep to answer any questions. I upgraded my SW order to an EW and I would like to know how long I have to secure funding before the discount is nulled.
