  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Upgrade Paths

I agree on some points that many people say here, some not, but that's ok.

We gathered the money some other way (lost 8% in the process though), and normally payment should go through by the end of next week and I should be rocking the Epic-W in two weeks...

ps: sorry for the bitching... but this whole ordering-process was a real pain in the ass. I really thought I'd be able to make money with the investment earlier.

Not sure if this is helpful to anyone but SoCal doesnt seem to be a good option unless you have amazing credit or have a high income. Here is my experience:

Submitted my application and they asked me to fax over my tax forms. After a few days they called and said I was partially approved for $11k (out of the requested $18k) and they suggested I get a co-signer because I have "limited credit" (score of 703). So I did, and submitted their information and no response for days. Then I get an email saying I was approved for $10k. What happened to the $11k and is my co-signer on the loan?? No response for days. I later found they emailed me and it went to my junk folder asking for more tax forms to prove my income.

I was was fed up waiting (waiting since January Scarlet-W preorder) so I contacted my rep who confirmed that I qualified for $10k. So I paid the difference ($8.5k) on a card and waited to hear back on the payment plan and to accept the loan. Here are the payment options:

24 Months $530.70
30 Months $446.40
36 Months $390.60

Advance: 2 payments plus a one-time documentation fee of $515.00 due with returned original signed lease/finance agreement.

Obviously these will vary depending on the individual but this is not good. On 36 months you're paying over $4k to borrow $10k!!!

The rates are much better at Lending Club since I took a $10k loan out 4 years ago and only paid a little over $2k on a 36 month loan.

Anyway, hope this is helpful to people and be aware there are other options!

I thought RED had forgotten about me and my Scarlet MX. Jarred didn't. So I will be upgrading my Scarlet MX which I have had for years for an Epic-W. 4K to 8K is amazing but for me it's the 13 MP and jumping to the 35.4 MP that got my attention. The footage difference is night and day. Thanks Jarred for not forgetting about me!

Just heard and got a tracking number. My Epic-W takes delivery Tuesday! What a relief this is after 11 months of waiting. Will be celebrating with some lagavulin for sure.

What are thoughts on models that are getting traded in being sold by Red as battle tested? Similar to the Red One MXs a few years back? (I've not had my ear to the ground for the majority of this thread.)

Had a very similar experience. I was approved out of the gate for a $13,500 loan. The 'loan calculator' they told me to reference had me paying $1200 (plus fees) over 2 years for the loan.

Once I was approved and started the process after the long wait, my Credit score went up to the mid 7s, a huge jump. However, so did my payment plan.

24 mos: $720.07
30 mos: $557.93
36 mos: $479.67

Now, I used to work in financing. I took one look at these numbers and my first question was why is the TOTAL PAYMENTS ($720 x 24 = $17280) for the 24 month plan bigger then the TOTAL for the 30 month ($557 x 30 = $16,710).

They told me even though I had a 750ish score, that my 'credit was thin'. So they got me a 'discount' on the 30 & 36 month plans, but could not offer me one on the 24 month plan. WHAT????????????????

Plus, as you said, with a $415 application fee (i had a $100 coupon) my total interest was about $3700 on a $13.5k loan under the cheapest terms (30 month plan). This is a loan that I took in September and have already paid off. So I was not interested in having it long term.

27.5% !!!! That's loco.

So I took out a few no interest CCs and paid no interest. Camera is paid off already. More money to spend at RED. :)

Celebrated in the spirit of happy Red users everywhere today. What a wild ride this was.
