  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Really? I switched to a package on the Monday following the announcement and I lost my place. :/

Having purchased and literally town away 9 adapters, if you pay less then $500 don't expect anything much from it...

Sadly for Canon users, I have seen a worst ratio then PL, been that almost 90% of Mamiya to Canon adopters are really crap...

Mama to PL on the other hand are a bit more solid...

The one I have found to be good enough for now, with it been very thin, and with a Locking mechanism is the UK made for Les as seen in the pic below... But Once I leave Mauritius, likely next year, I will have my full Mamiya set PL swapped by Duclos, just waiting to see final specs on the Weapon VV 8K specs to proceed.

I'll also share few shots for the Dragon 6k from Mauritius, this glass is still an insanely great glass... And so is the Hassy by Fuji... :)

i wouldnt permanently swap if i were you, at least that's what paul told me, mainly because even the arri 65mm's pl mount is different then standard pl mounts.
use adapters until there becomes a universal system. i hate adapters as a rule, but in this case it will be worth waiting before you completely change your lenses.
i have to say, i did some simple tests btwn mamiya and hasselblad zeiss and i thought the hasselblad's were much more pleasing, WAY better build quality, 330 degree focus throws and stock de-clicked iris, plus very easy to match to most zeiss cine leneses, as well as angeniuex zooms.
 
If i had the chance to go Weapon 8k (dream) i would really love to see electronic mounts for Phase One/Schneider-Kreuznach and those Pentax 645 lenses. Some nice glass there and motors for EFF-solutions... A Mamiya mount with full support for the AF-lenses would probably be another great option.
 
Thanks for the forward thinking Jarred and the rest of the RED team. Beyond excited to upgrade our Dragon to the MG Weapon. Curious if we'd be able to pay remainder of final deposits before end of the year once you all have the savings from AL internals figured out.

Okay, the updates for RED.com are going to start rolling out now. Some key points:

* WEAPON Mg Upgrade Package is now $29,500. A $5000 reduction from $34,500. If your order is already in, you don't have to do a thing. You get the price decrease plus the $5000 accessory credit.

* If you order as of right now, you get the $5000 price decrease. However, there will not be a $5000 accessory credit for orders placed after I hit "submit" on this post. We wanted a little way to show our appreciation for the folks who placed leap of faith orders up till now for Mg upgrades. But, I assume no one is going to be upset of cash in hand, right?

* Yes, once we go live with reservations for WEAPON Mg new camera orders, the price will be $29,500.

The before/after April 12 thing is referring to the whether or not you had your Epic/Scarlet and impacts trade-in value, according to the chart.
 
Congrats to all who put in their deposits before the deadline for accessory credit eligibility. Had the accessory credit still been on offer and the US/CAD exchange rate not so utterly horrible right now, this would have been the catalyst for me moving up to Weapon. Get comfy there Epic-Dragon #5343, we'll be together for a while yet!

Okay, so has this page been updated already with the new pricing. I was getting really confused looking at it because I was thinking it hadn't been (the only date that gives you any clue that it's up to day is a Nov 16, 2015 down in the fine print. A "last updated date would be really nice to have at the top of the page.) So since I already owned an Epic X Dragon before the Weapon announcement and went ahead with the upgrade before today, the price is $14,000 total plus it includes $5000 accessory credit. So basically the upgrade is $9000. I feel really good about this upgrade now. Excited to get it in my hands soon! Now if I could just pay the balance and take delivery before the end of the year my accountant would be happy too...
 
Doh. So close. Got all excited then saw the AKS part went away and was like noooo. I wish, and I know wishes don't mean much, that Mg could have had the same genius roll out the Raven had where you coulda had the brain and picked a package. Maybe someday down the road. Though my Dragon looks relieved.
 
It looks like they have removed the accessory credit for upgrades to MG so you would be paying $14,000 for the upgrade with no extra accessories
