  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

To be clear...

Clear: crystal!!!

Fair: well beyond!!!

RED: the End all of companies

Epic: the future of Cinema

imho...if you have to ask how to be a good customer is equivalent to having to ask how to be a good Parent if you don't know you just don't know!!!

It is pretty easy. Just embrace our program. And don't ask for more than we are offering...

Jim

Jim,
Sorry. But I agree only with the first part of your statement.
If we do not ask more how we can help to improve the cameras and software? :rolleyes5:

Fair Deal

Fair Deal

Hi,
I cannot understand the significance of this post....We all know RED has given us products , Stage 2 , Stage 3 deals which no other company can give at prices which were within reach of lot of people and made their dream true(I am top of that list. From a small rental house , we have grown multifolds after we bought two RED cameras..)
JIM , WE DO NOT HAVE ANY OTHER OPTION THAN RED and will stay with the company till you guys are listening to us..and I know it will never stop.

So cheers to the RED TEAM.:cheers2:

The little things

The little things

I, too, agree that this is a fair deal and that the Epic is an amazing leap forward in technology, etc.

I could use, however, a bit more focus on some of the little things, specifically parts. Things like screws for the battery cradle or the end caps on the 90 degree Lemo connectors (currently waiting 6-8 weeks to get some from Sweden, but buying an entire $100 connector in the meantime, just for the screw cap).

Perhaps in the rental world it is no big deal to spend $250 on a new RED Drive cable instead of $5 on just the cap for the end of one of the connectors, but in my case (educational institution) this makes a difference. There are cumbersome parts order processes in many other companies, but you CAN, for instance, get a parts diagram for any Manfrotto tripod and order just about any part you need—just that one screw, not a whole new head or set of legs.

Would I rather have huge leaps in technology and occasionally have to spend $250 on a cable? Probably so, but this sort of headache is the type of thing that makes it more difficult to convince the people behind the money to part with some of it.

The deal of the LIFETIME... thanks a billion!

As for those too busy... HA! - I agree with Brook. I'm on here on whether on set or in the edit room solving problems or learning something new EVERY DAY.

But this business is full of old school CURMUDGEONS... and the youth that we serve are going to send a bunch of them into early retirement in 2011 and beyond. thanks RED!

Updates a must, REDUSER invaluable to RED Owners

It seems to me that those working should stay on top of what they are doing...

Jim

I can't imagine not staying on top of all the updates and firmware updates to my camera and RED CineX.

You have taken me far beyond my expectations of a camera, everytime I shoot my RED One and then look at what I've got I'm amazed.

And you take care of your customers unlike any other company out there.

What you've done is appreciated by many...and many more will follow..

Best,
Frazier

Incredibly much more than fair, and then some Jim...:thumbup1:

Now, for those here who never seem to be satisfied no matter what Red offers, the author Will Rogers offered some really sage country advice nearly a century ago:

“Never slap a man who's chewing tobacco”

“Never kick a cow chip on a hot day”

“Never miss a good chance to shut up”

“If you find yourself in a hole, stop digging”

“Good judgment comes from experience, and a lot of that comes from bad judgment”

“Lettin' the cat outta the bag is a whole lot easier'n puttin' it back”

“After eating an entire bull, a mountain lion felt so good he started roaring. He kept it up until a hunter came along and shot him. The moral: When you're full of bull, its best to keep your mouth shut”

For sure. Yeah, I'm stoked about our Epic-X stage 3. But even if there wasn't Epic out there, and no more upgrades to our plain ol' R1, I'm still incredibly impressed with RED as a company and the R1 as a camera. It makes incredible images. Better than a lot of my commercial clients expect, across the board. Everything else is gravy, to me.

“If you find yourself in a hole, stop digging”

Hey! That's Healy's First Law of Holes.

Good judgment comes from experience, and a lot of that comes from bad judgment”

And that is a *very* old farmer's saying - from Scotland :smile5:

After eating an entire bull, a mountain lion felt so good he started roaring. He kept it up until a hunter came along and shot him. The moral: When you're full of bull, its best to keep your mouth shut”

And *that* is getting printed, framed, and nailed to the firehouse wall! :patriot:

Thanks Steve!

Unfortunately, people who are working often think that because they are working, they have all the knowledge to keep themselves employed.

I think Red would be well advised to reach out to your established base and make sure everyone is current (or at least knows what they should do to be current) as you make this "Epic" change in hardware. It would be the ultimate in customer service from a company who already excels in this area.

Well, they're not thinking, they're working ;-) Most of the people I know, who really work (directors, dops, etc...) don't have time to spend hours on internet forums to get the right info and updates. It's easy to understand. On Reduser there are plenty of young kids or jobless people, even Red owners, who prefer to spend their lives here than going out and use their beautiful camera ;-)

I guess you need everyone to build this world :patriot:

That is an absolutely spectacular assumption... and one that I would say is totally erroneous.

Iron sharpens iron. Anyone "working" and not "jobless" would be smart to collect the knowledge here and use it to their advantage. And just because someone doesn't yet own a RED camera does not make them any less professional, employable or useful. How you arrived at this conclusion is beyond me.

Good grief.

more than fair. i'm thankful and will take stage 3. thanks Red. Very happy to be a red owner.

I'm going to be in LA in August. Even if there are no Epic-S's or Scarlet Interchangable's for sale by then I still want to pop around to Red Studio's and say hi to the team ...
