  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Yeah, such a goofy little contraption. Probably the third time I've used it, this time it just started smoking right away. Plastic started melting, too.

I just ordered a new charger with some extra batteries on Amazon.

Tilta say anything? And did you order a different brand off Amazon?
 
I thought it was a pretty weird little charger, but it seems fairly smart, just blinks red if you hook up the polarity wrong. Although the magnets did seem like they could invite a dead short around metal stuff....
 
Tilta asked for photos of the unit, but haven't heard back after. I'm not too concerned but wanted to give them and everyone else a heads up.

Something a little more traditional and more batteries than I'll ever need for this lil guy, haha.

Curious, has anyone tried to see how long the run time is for the hand wheel on a single battery, yet?
 
From other forum user reports motor 2.5 LANC connector use 4 pole socket. So it is not a common 3 pole LANC socket and seems it will not work with normal 3 pole LANC cables. Probably they do 4 pole connection to be compatible trough cable adapters with all possible LANC variations on different cameras.

Part of the struggle I had earlier was finding the proper 2.5mm cable that works with the Nano.
At first I thought the motor was outputting LANC, but it is not the case, so wont work with those 3 Pole cables.
It's a 4 Pole type, which is very uncommon and extremely difficult to find for 2.5mm size. ( After literally calling almost every place I could, not a single electronics supplier/retailer in my city had anything. )

The Tilta unregulated p-tap cable was out of stock when I ordered, so I bought a p-tap to 2.1 DC (like a monitor power cable) and then a female 2.1 to micro USB adapter. Works fine, full 12v to Nano, cost about $20 on Amazon.

Followed this good advice, and am happy to report, night and day difference with the motor. Becomes a little beast at the higher voltage. Very pleased with motor and with system, which is super simple to use. Also find very easy to switch control from Nano hand unit to "M" FIZ unit; intend to test whether there is increased range when doing so in future.

Anyone still waiting on pre-orders? Received an email mid-January while I was out of country saying it was in the "next coming weeks". No sign of anything yet, and that was the last communication.

I did make it work. For a moment. I got the cable, hooked it up to the camera, pressed the REC button and it worked. No change in any setting. I was very happy and satisfied. Then I changed the camera battery and it never worked again since. Have tried everything...
 
Still waiting on my Nano. Coming up to 4 months now, this is getting ridiculous. They keep saying it's shipping soon...but nothing yet
 
Just got both my DSMC1 and 2 R/S cables. Just tried the DSMC1 cable on my Epic Dragon, no luck at all.

I'll try the DSMC2 cable on a Scarlet W tomorrow.
