Question for everyone, not sure if this was already discussed/mentioned at all. For people upgrading their DSMC1 bodies to Epic W, do we also trade in our accessories as well or just the brain?

I think Brody forgot to add 2 qualifiers to his question, at which given resolution vs fps. Raven does shoot Prores with Redcode R3D at the same time maxing out 2k 30fps Prores. So, Brody wants to recall his question. Brody what says you? ...lol

I remember seeing a Weapon Helium spec chart with frame rates at resolutions - can anyone point me to that.

Any chance the Epic-W will be able to shoot 4K ProRes 4444? I'd assume it would be able to do 2K ProRes 4444.

The problem I get is that I still didn't see any R3D side by side test Dragon VS Helium that convinced me to go the Helium route.

From what I saw on the Xyla chart is that Helium has 1 stop more low light but looses 1,3stop in the highlights over the Dragon (this with the colorscience provided at that time).

A good keylights would make it an easyier call for me to see the difference.

I can't say enough good things about Mark. Apart from his talent for shooting some of the most incredible images across the planet, The guy's work ethic and generosity to the community is incredible.

I'm confident he spends more time in the air than on the ground yet he still finds the time to give back to fellow filmmakers in any way he can.

He is never afraid to challenge me on things he doesn't like that we are doing and he constantly pushes us to be better.

Mark was one of the lucky ones who got a Helium Stormtrooper ( the first actually ) and has been shooting stuff last last month or two as he continues to travel across the planet.

He cut this little piece together on his laptop somewhere between India and Vietnam en route to (I think) Abu Dhabi.

So thanks Mark. You are a mentor to many and I'm honored to call you a friend.

Thanks Brody :)

Is this true? That's a pretty big decision to make

Yes it's a nice commercial for the HELIUM and a beautifull work from Mark but I'm still not convinced by the burnt out highlights and burnt out high saturaded colors shot at night.

I'm sure more RES will be a huge benefit for FX or even give S16 a decent 4k sensor. But I'll need to see more R3D comparisons with the Dragon to be convince to go the Helium route. 6k @ S35 is what I need now, 6k @ 24x36 is what I also would love to use...

I also heard some other guys talking about having less dynamic range... Where did you see the Xyla?

Haha, you still didn't learn! "Will it work", he could say "yes" and be referring to 2K ProRes simultaneously with 8K RAW. You mean "Will 4K ProRes record simultaneously with 8K RAW". Gotta treat these questions like a deposition, Brody!

Don't give him a hard time, we are all probably convinced by now. The open ended questions make it more fun lol

Jesus man, now I know what it feels like to get a moment in Brent's shoes haha. Sorry buddy, but Im on the job just stopped in on my lunch break to try and get some info for the E-W hopefuls. Im sure you'll get all your information soon enough. Don't forget to go along with the ride and have fun with all this. :chillpill:

Haha, I'm just giving you shit, Brody. Sarcasm admittedly doesn't come across super well on forums! Have a good shoot :)
