Epic-W will have 4K ProRes :)))

Definitely super exciting, I'm hoping that means some kind of improvement in the Weapon-H because that was one of the advantages it had over the lower cameras. If not no worries I'm just dreaming of the potential to come for the Weapon

Best news of today :D WELL DONE RED :P

4K ProRes on Epic-W! Its getting better and better

What I find most amusing about the whole ProRes/DNxHR thing is that ProRes 444 is huge. We've been shooting in 4K ProRes 444 on my Cion for close to a year, and one of the big improvements we found now that we're instead shooting in 5K RedCode, usually at 8:1 (Scarlet Dragon) is taht we're saving a HUGE amount of DIT time + disk space... while at the same time ending up with higher resolution footage that looks every bit as good straight out of the camera with RedGamma4 applied, but has a LOT more flexibility for color grading...

Not to mention the "little" things like the huge increase in dynamic range.

Workflow wise, we're also finding RedCode to be nicer because we can preview 5K on a Surface Book (our typical DIT station). And we can plop into to just about ever NLE there is and go to town. :)

The only times I ever wish for ProRes on the Scarlet-D is when I'm doing events and such. :)

ProRes a nice-to-have but personally I have used it zero times on Weapon CF.

They might reserve 4444 and XQ for weapon helium

Great to have the option. I got my Raven on a few quick turn around broadcast gigs, thanks to prores. I've had a hard time in the past with my Epic in the broadcast world.
For a lot of productions 8k is not feasible delivery format yet. I would hate to have to scale the sensor to get 4K. This is a great addition

Is there a reason why they don't do ProRes 422 Proxy? I think the lowest we can go currently is LT.

So excited about this camera and dont want to sound greedy, but any chance of internal ND on the Epic W?

Kipper tie ND OLPF's will be an option, internal ND Im pretty sure will not be, from looking at the pictures its a normal weapon body I doubt a ND wheel fits in there.

Pretty sure if there was a an ND wheel inside, every single person would be jumping ship from SW to EW LOL.

But you also understand how much bigger the camera would be, I think that would actually make people stay in the boat they are in.

my a7s mark ii has a built in ND filter you can switch on and off. I think they could get it in there pretty easily
