I read that but misunderstood before. So with Weapon MG to Helium 8K I'd get a Sidekick and DSMC PL Mount 2.0? That's a sweet deal.

I'm on the trigger for the CF Weapon Upgrade. I've got one question that I've gotten mixed answers on.

When we trade in our Epic Dragon body for the Upgrade, are we getting a new 6K Dragon sensor, or is the current one removed from the Epic Dragon Body and placed in the new Weapon CF body?

It was my understanding that any camera going in for upgrade has to be first inspected and any repairs must be made before the upgrade. I have heard they use some elements of the original camera during the upgrade process, however it is unclear what those pieces are.

If you put in for WEAPON Mg upgrade now, you will likely not get it in time before the Oct 11 cutoff. Correct, you deposit can be refunded or applied to something else.

I sent you a PM but you actually answered the first part regarding a friend and him potentially upgrading the camera next monday. I'm curious though regarding my upgrade I have in to RED. I dropped it off in Irvine 2 weeks ago and I'm hoping it didnt miss the cutoff time. I know you said in your post earlier today

"If you have not sent in your EPIC/SCARLET DRAGON by now - and it is not actively being upgraded (meaning, on the upgrade line itself, cracked open), the ship has pretty much sailed. " So it's in for the upgrade for the last 2 weeks it just hasn't been allocated yet. So I'm wondering if you think it will be allocated. If not would the upgrade package still be honored and would it be possible to be considered a Weapon MG for the Weapon MG to Weapon Helium upgrade offer that Jarred had mentioned earlier?

Now its clear why it was over the limit trying to negotiate the Weapon 8K Helium upgrade cheaper than 15k. Sidekick and PL Mount 2.0 is almost 5k. Whoa!!! I am sorry but this just too good. Thanks Jarred and Brent. Hope RED does break even with all these! Thank you much.

Mainly that adding $10k is a big deal for my business and it would help to be able to plan ahead. (Should I jump on the MoVi flash sale today, or save for the EPIC_W?) More importantly though, if it takes me 3 minutes to figure out the specs on red.com when it's announced, that could add weeks to my wait time!

I'm sure you guys are holding on to some info until release, but I figure it can't hurt to ask. Thanks for all the info thus far, Brent! Can't wait 'til the 11th!

I would assume that you're not trading Scarlet-W "Package" pre-order price to an Epic-W "Brain Only" price. Consider that people that pre-order a Scarlet-W today are not pre-ordering the package, but the brain only and they too would qualify for the 10K upgrade.

There is no E-W package, so you'd need to add the accessories for the E-W and you'd let go of the packaged savings of that offer.

This is actually a good thing for many that have certain pieces already. I already have mini-mags, and the 120GB one seems pretty useless in an 8K environment. Others may prefer a different on-camera monitor.

The alternative (guessing) would be to allow the Scarlet-W package order to go through, and then upgrade the brain later.

So the people who already have received the Scarlet-W Package just need to send back the brain and keep the accessories ? It would make more sense if the package discount is tranfered to the Epic-W order, if not those who already have received the S-w package have been very fortunate.

A relatively inexpensive Scarlet-X to Raven or Scarlet-W path would be amazing.

Don’t confuse sensor name with camera name : )

With WEAPON HELIUM, you get mount, media bay, and SIDEKICK. With EPIC-W HELIUM, no SIDEKICK or mount.

Depends on the revs of the components of what is in your EPIC camera that can be used in the WEAPON. For the most part, it will end up being a new sensor.

If upgrade starts before Oct 11, you get what you initially expected. If not, you have to go down EPIC-W or WEAPON HELIUM carbon fiber upgrade path he mentioned.

So the people who already have received the Scarlet-W Package just need to send back the brain and keep the accessories ? It would make more sense if the package discount is tranfered to the Epic-W order, if not those who already have received the S-w package have been very fortunate.

Keep the accessories, yes. People can choose to stay in SCARLET-W package line after Oct 11 date. Or they can switch to EPIC-W or WEAPON HELIUM, and forfeit the accessories. Your choice…

Transferring the “package discount” would be a ton of effort on our end, create additional complexity, and likely push the Oct 11 date.

So…

I couldn't agree more! Before reading your post I had not thought of that. It's very unfair that people who have received their SW packages get to keep their accessories and still trade in the brain for an EW. While someone like me, who ordered the SW bundle has to forfeit the bundle altogether if I upgrade to EW. The bundle should absolutely carry over.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but from what I can gather, Scarlet Dragon owners who have their deposit in for the Scarlet-W (Scarlet-D upgrade) will not exactly get the same "path" as the other Scarlet-W pre-orders. It seems like a separate path to upgrade the brain? Does it require sending in your body? Is it possible to wait to get Scarlet-W Dragon Owner package, then upgrade to Epic-W body after? (Or do we have to hope that we get the Scarlet-W before Dec 31?

I can only assume they mean the Scarlet Dragon package (which was an extra $2500 off, making the total savings closer to $3000). Which, as someone who has never owned a RED, I can see why they'd want a little something extra over the deal I'm getting as a newbie.

Anyway, I'm totally cool losing the bundle. Allows me to streamline my accessories.

Oh, and Brent, will there be details about priority or timestamp stuff? I'm curious where those of us with no camera (Dec 10th order) fall in line. I understand that lots of people with varying degrees of camera investment are all hoping to have priority, so it's probably a nightmare to plan.

Brent, I'm a Scarlet Dragon owner that hasn't yet placed my deposit down for the special priced Scarlet Dragom-to-Scarlet-W package upgrade. If I were to put down my deposit for the Scarlet-W bundle before Oct.11, would it be honored? (I really hope so being that we actually aren't sending a camera in for an upgrade)
