All credit goes to Jonny and his team who pulled this off in less than 3 days.

THAT is unbelievable....great work man...to all involved.

Yes... in October when Helium really begins.

Good to know, thanks Jarred!

This summer in our area doesn't look fantastic in terms of weather, tourists complain July looks more like September so maybe August could be my October ? Just saying...

Like most here (unless I missed something), I obviously don't know the details of the Helium release and what the new sensor means for owners of current DSMC2 bodies, especially Raven and Scarlet-W. When info did start to trickle out, I have to say I was really bummed as it became more and more likely that the new sensors won't be compatible with my Scarlet-W. I mean, that was a big factor in my decision to go RED, and I mentioned that at the time. I felt a little betrayed to be honest, because my understanding of the RED model was that a few years after the new bodies were released, a new sensor for those current bodies would follow. It was part of my investment decision.

I've been out in the field in Mexico for the last few weeks, but as I'm sure is true for many of you here, I've tried to stay as up to date on the new developments as possible. I have to say, seeing the rollout of the white 8K Helium Weapons has been exciting even though I know I won't be able to take advantage of that sensor for some time. It's not a selfish excitement. It's a community one, and then the switch flipped in my head. It's true, I've had to rethink my plan for my Scarlet-W and reset my expectations about RED's business model. But I was wrong.

I didn't buy into RED to get a second sensor in my camera. I bought into RED because I wanted to be a part of this community and share in the excitement of these new groundbreaking announcements and feel akin to all of you fine folks forging ahead at the forefront of cinematography. Owning a RED is empowering in so many ways. Buying one put that much more fuel in the fire pushing me to be the best cinematographer and storyteller I can be. Jarred, thanks for that, and thanks to the whole community. This new camera is truly game-changing, and the way it was rolled out was thrilling to watch. I'm excited for all those who are getting a shiny white new 8K S35 Helium Weapon, and you know what, I'm still damn excited to shoot with my Scarlet-W, which had already exceeded my expectations. I'm glad I chose RED because of the family. It feels good to be involved. Congrats to Jarred and the RED team for this rollout and to everyone lucky enough to get those early orders in. I can't wait to start seeing the stories you will tell with these new cameras.

I forgot where, but it was stated that Raven most likely will not have an upgrade path to any new sensor, but Scarlet-W will have a path to "a" new sensor, but it was never clarified into what sensor. So whether that means Helium, or something else down the line, who knows, but RED has always been good to Scarlet owners too.

I think it is based on ship to location? Not sure, not my area of expertise. I will pass along to our HQ folks who deal with REL...

Sorry that was not the invoice it was a reciept of purchase it says I should not transfer anything before I get an Invoice... So guessing thats coming, and that shipment will be sent when money is transfered. I guess for fast shipment I should have selected credit card but things where done in a bit of a rush to say the least. As always when buying red the trick is to first pump the refresh button, then when something pops up, buy and then later try to figure out what I just bought. Lol.

Oh that would be great. But in content either way. The Dragon sensor in the Scarlet-W is incredible.

If I am not mistaken, it appears as though the faster processing and data rates of the CF Weapon are in this Helium 8K Magnesium. If that is true, is there a chance that the faster boards can be sold in the Magnesium Weapon body?

I would guess the day is coming sooner than later where Red will cut off the upgrade path from Dragon to Weapon. I really hope they give us a couple of months notice.

As Jarred says, "all good things come to an end". Jarred already told folks here more stuff on the horizon in October - "Helium 'officially' kicks off in October."

I am not saying when this path will end, but a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush. If you are thinking of going from EPIC/SCARLET DRAGON to WEAPON, get it done. This path has been open since NAB 2015...

Correct, the sensor already in the SCARLET-W is fantastic, esp at that price point. And no one ever said there was no sensor upgrade path for SCARLET-W.

Don't get caught up on materials of the white cam. Yes, it has same data transfer speeds as the WEAPON CF 6K, but we found that white paint and CF don't play nice... As Jarred has said in the past, if you are WEAPON MG, you have to go up to WEAPON CF to get boards that can handle 8K VV sensor.

The reality is that the RED ecosystem is so much more robust than it was with DSMC1 and so it makes sense that the upgrade possibilities are more complex across the line of cameras. It will be interesting to see what upgrades are possible down the line, but for now, I just feel fortunate to have a camera that already far surpasses anything I've used or owned in the past. I'll happily sit back and enjoy watching others take advantage of all the incredible new RED offerings. RED always seems to know how to take care of their customers and I'm sure it will be the same with all of the DSMC2 bodies.

Hey Brent, can I ask you for a clarification on this? DSMC1 Epic-MX is stated to have an upgrade path to DSMC2 at some point somewhere. The famous Epic-W or else. I own a Epic Dragon. I haven't moved to DSMC2 yet even if I really want to. Just waiting for the right financial moment. But now I mildly terrified...:) Is there really a plan to stop the upgrade path to Weapon from Epic Dragon? In that case, will Epic Dragon owners have a similar opportunity that MX owners will have?

LITHIUM BABY!!!
