THE M8 (008) Discussion thread

Guys,

Your sharing really reminds me of the kind of community that has been created here. Those images are wonderful and it's nice to see those ear to ear smiles.

Right effing on!

So happy for you guys and great to hear about the new alliance!

David

hmmm... anybody else notice the serial sticker for the lcd?
I don't wanna spoil the party, because I myself am overly excited
but I find it weird on these heavily designed megacool gadgets,
to find that kind of oversized, white "homemade" tape.
I can't help it, but my eyes are fixed on the tape and not on the "RED PRO 5.0"

I know, as a designer, I'm a pain in the *** when it comes to tiny details such as these.
But I can't help but notice anyway.
Wouldn't it be way cooler to maybe have it on an aluminum embossed label?
like http://global.dymo.com/enCA/LabelAttribute/Metallic_Tapes_for_LetraTag.html
http://content.etilize.com/Large/11962450.jpg (the last ones are non sticky, but the look is similar)
or maybe white or silver type on a black tape?

or is that just a temporary thing, so the Ms can get out quick!?

As I said, I don't wanna be a pain, but I can't help but notice. Any thoughts?

Once more, this is tiny and not really important, but still I wanted to ask.

Gibby, Ketch, keep up the party :)

Thanks guys, do get ready for what is to come form #8 you will not believe your eyes..

Oh and btw, here @ Gibby's we do have a great Insurance policy ;)

Congratulation guys ! Really happy for you ! and thanks for sharing pics !:emote_happyhappy:

BTW, the FN five-seven comes from my town ! :cornut:

Does the boxes has 1:1 blueprints on the cover, or am Im dreaming? That would be excellent for us that does our own foam cutting for cases etc. :driving:

I hope its wasn't something fragile in that protective paper :) You seem worse than any kid on christmas I've ever seen (no wonder though haha) :emote_happyhappy:

Wow, guys,

THANKS for all kind comments, truly humbled ;)

Steve, I and the guys, here as well as on other City Locations thru out the
US, will continue to post BTS pictures and videos, as well as present you with
some amazing footage of a variety of planned shoots;)

I can honestly say that the picture of Ketch and Gibby with 008 just made all of the hard work and late nights/mornings 100% worth it.

Have a blast out there shooting, can't wait to see the end results...

THANKS Sean ;),

you have no idea how much we appreciated, but possibly the BTS videos Joseph is shooting and coming up on the RECON M8 Thread will give you an idea he he.

I am offering up the possibility of Steve and Ketch and mark to come visit us on Spiderman and compare notes on the Epic progress.

Let me know. Steve, Jim knows my numbers so although you are busy doing your tests you are welcome to come to Universal and hang and talk. We have 7 EPICS working 14 hours a day.

Peter

Thanks Peter,

will take you up on your offer upon my return to Cali, and love to see you
guys at work not just for Epic workflow etc. but also for the 3D implemented
workflow on set, off course will bring our M8 with ;)

Congratulation guys ! Really happy for you ! and thanks for sharing pics !:emote_happyhappy:

Thanks Franck, correct, the FN five-seven is made in Belgium, an absolute
state of the art machinery, this Gun is light as a feather, more powerful then
a 9mm yet less then one third the kick, a joy to use and a very good
protection, always with me for protection ;)

Thanks Peter,

yes totally cool RED Pro MB box, it does in deed have a 1:1 Blue print on the top ;)

EPIC/ATOM Ready for 3D ;)
DEEP ATOM Coming Soon ;)

Thank you so very much for all the great comments and kind wishes posted on this thread while the crew was getting some sleep! Red User is a big worldwide family now, and its just incredible to see the outpouring of support for each other here. Thank you...

We're naturally way stoked to put Epic to work out into the natural world! Beyond that, since each of our crew has this really great chance to be among the first to shoot Epic and document it, we as a crew are also way happy to share our experiences with our Red Family here. Its impossible for your guys to be here with us, but hopefully what we share will in a way bring you out here with us and include you on our crew.

Each of these days we'll document the whole day with Pam shooting 35mm stills with her Canon 5D and kit of L series lenses, and Joseph shooting video with his Z1. We already posted a ton of those stills, plus two of Joseph's videos here and with complete links on the Recon forum M8 thread.

Expect to see some more fun pics and video tonight from today's adventures :)

We were definitely like big kids when we opened to box - pure euphoria! There's just something seriously amazing about the first view of some cool new tools for us to put into our work.

On Joseph's first video (link on the M8 Recon thread) you can see the whole sequence - hoops, hollers, parer flying in the air, sighs, stares, and tons of smiles :)

Hehe, I totally know that feeling!! :D This was me almost three years ago exactly....

HUGE congrats guys! I can't wait to have Epic-X arrive and once again be like a kid on Christmas day, ripping into the new presents Santa brought (in this case, Jim)!

Cheers from Tokyo,

Paul :)

That's great...we'll take you up on that offer :)

Once we finish another couple of days of field production here in the Rockies, I'll talk with Jim, get your number, and give you a call to schedule a visit. Alternately, If you'd like to give me your phone number via email, you can reach me at steve (at) cut4 (dot) tv

Thanks Peter...

Wow, Jim's been holding out on us. Didn't know that Epic came with the Spiderman feature. Does that go for the cast version too?

There is no link to the BTS video.

The M8 thread is amazing. Thanks for taking the time to document these first impressions.

Can't wait to see some footage. I just bought a 22" 1080P monitor and need something to show it off. :)

Steve, I've never met you, but this picture makes me want to, I was on the floor laughing when I saw this.

Steve, I'm curious. Did you get shots of the sunrise this morning? I also live in Southern Utah and the sunrise was spectacular today. Happy shooting!

I'm going to church today but somehow I think your experience will feel more religious :-)

Honey,

You look fantasic in that new lingere, but that lace on the garter is just a little... well...you know, I'm a designer, and well.... you know... the lace... it's just a bit...

I mean... you look great and all, but....

:)
LOL, You get the point and I hope you can appreciate the humour in my post.

David

Thanks, guys! Very exciting. Any chance you could post a nice 96fps R3D file so we can all play around with it in RedCine X?
