  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

I really don't think there are really that many out in the wild yet. I'm still not convinced that many are even ordered yet. Serials seem so random and I'm pretty sure that there a good amount of cameras produced that are for RED's internal uses.

Humm i am still confused about SOs. I am AL EOS mount, my SO is 58752, and i am pretty sure it does not mean i have 50,000 cameras ahead of me, haha.

The one thing that has ever been useful to me when it comes to tracking where I am at is date ordered really... am I missing something here? Probably...
 
Drop the "5" off the front and, yes, those are sequential numbers; so, 58752 becomes 8752. My Scarlet order, placed on November 7th, is 2959. Keep in mind, all sales orders (SO's) are not camera orders. Every order placed with RED, whether for a cable or a camera, gets an SO number. So, there are almost 5800 orders between mine and 8752. How many of those are Scarlets is anybody's guess. We do know that some high number PL mount Scarlets have shipped as well as some Ti Canon mount Scarlets. However, the latest reported SO of a Canon Al Scarlet is around 2400.

Based on what I have observed, I expect to get my allocation notice in the next couple of weeks - that's just my guess. RED says they are ramping up production quickly and expect to be out of backorder in April but I have no idea exactly what that means for high number camera orders. Patience will be a must. :smiley:

Dang it... silly me. Even still, I did think about that option but... 6 thousand orders behind that means I am? I understand SOs can apply to other cameras, or even accesories, but still... that sure is a ton of orders! (receiving some accesories tomorrow, BTW)

Anyway... it'll come when it comes...

Jim said they want to be out of backorder by the end of April...so...I'd expect April.

PL mounts are pretty much caught up, so we've seen in the 5000's. I think it's safe to say the if it's under 3000, it's AL/Ti Canon.

We've seen PLs in the 8000s and 9000s allocated last week.

I doubt 7000, maybe a few hundred. As everyone keeps saying, not every SO# is for a Scarlet. SO#s are assigned to anything bought from the RED store. Theoretically speaking , half of the SO#s could be T-shirts or hats. lol The latest from Jim is that everything should be our of backorder early April.

Jim mentioning they'll be out of backorder by April reflects Jarred's mention that they'll be out of backorder of everything by March and he did mention that that includes Scarlet brains. It also makes sense if they're moving past orders within the first few days as I believe the concentration of orders became much much lighter between Nov. 7th and the end of December. Most orders went through on the 3rd, 4th and 5th.

Just to maintain accuracy, look back a couple posts and you'll see that the highest SO # so far is 2401, not 1465.
