  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

The List - Please maintain

I WAS TALKING ABOUT THE hIGHEST NUMBER SHIPPED ! WICH IS THE MOST IMPORTANT FOR ME.

SO 2401 is my camera with serial number 1456 and has been delivered. That is the highest known shipped SO number. Brian has an earlier SO # than me, but has the latest known SERIAL number of 1465. And no need to shout.

Suit yourself - but serial numbers don't tell you anything as it relates to your SALES ORDER number. You already know your sales order number but you are not going to know your serial number until RED contacts you to ship your camera. So what, exactly, does the highest serial number shipped tell you about your order?

Personally, I think that there is currently no relationship at all between sales order numbers and camera serial numbers. I do believe, however, that if RED sends out a camera with a serial numbere of #1465, then I have to assume that there have been 1,465 Scarlets manufactured as of now.

Pourquoi êtes-vous tellement obsédé par les numéros de série?

En outre, éviter de taper tout en majuscules.

Having Google translate those into English kinda took out the sense of wonder, lol.

I have to admit, this has become a laughable discussion. Whether or not there is a relationship between camera serial numbers and SO numbers is pretty irrelevant. What is obvious is that SO numbers have something to do with the order of shipping - with the exception that Ti mounts, Canon and PL, are each on their own schedule. Even those, however, have an order - lower numbers in each group typically ship before higher numbers.

If one chooses not to take any predictive value from noting this pattern, so be it. It doesn't change the pattern, however.

Well - 1457 arrived in Tokyo (SO 1251). It is not as much about the number as it is about the delivery. Historically RED has prioritized upgrade programs based on the cam delivery. We (Canon Ti Mounters - for lack of a better word) have already "suffered" for two months watching people who ordered after us getting deliveries of their cameras. While the wait was worth it (The Ti mount looks like it will outlast the camera), I certainly don't want to be pushed back for any future upgrade programs just because I have taken delivery of the camera only now (regardless of having ordered it right away on the 3rd and paid in full) because of the Ti mount delay...

I hope you can understand that...

Peter

Hello,
Forget about SO numbers it stands for any cameras or accessories as you can see below. So if you have freaks like me who ordered all in pieces aver 3 months, it won't give you much info.
We're better off giving the dates of our orders.
I phoned Red Europe today and asked that since I ordered in november (I didn't give the exact date) what would be an estimation date for delivery. They said to me that I would need to wait 3 more months...
That's exactly what was said to me at the end of December.

I've ordererd :
Scarlet, Canon brain ordered on November 11, 2011 Sales Order - SO-0053753
Redmote ordered November 24, 2011 Sales Order - SO-0055164
Red touch Order Placed - December 30, 2011 Sales Order - SO-0058733
Battery belt Order Placed - February 11, 2012 Sales Order - SO-0062796

scarlet-x canon ti, so 2417, still not delivered to vienna/austria. might come a little bit later, running through red europe :-(

Unless I'm mistaken, Red stated they'd be out of backorder in February at the end of December. Last week I read they stated they'd be out of backorder in March. Today I read they say they'll be out of backorder in April. I have also read, never with any quoted statements from the company to back it up, that they are "ramping up production."

I have seen one other poster here, earlier in this thread, get a rare (if not unique) estimate from Red. Like me, he ordered in the first week and he has been told to he'll have to wait another three months.

Of course, patience is an individual, non-transferable virtue. However, those that preach it anyway appear to be more "right" than they know. I wish I had my camera but perhaps getting one later will have meant they fixed the battery hot-swap defect that has prompted the "recall." It would be incredibly poor business to ship me a camera that they know is defective (and then charge me to ship back).

Where, incidentally, is the list?

I don't think anyone ever said the SCARLET would be out of backorder in February/March...just certain peripherals. In fact, Jim didn't even say April for the Scarlet specifically, he just said it in a general sense. There's still leeway. I would be shocked if they were out of backorder by the end of April.

You are kidding?! Is this serious? Someone at Red Europe told you, that you had to wait another three months, while you ordered in november?!

So, let me understand this right; you spoke to a real living flesh-and-blood human being at Red Europe today and he told you that?! Please confirm. Can you recall the name of the Red employee?

If that is really the situation - which i find hard to believe - quite a lot of people here'll have a serious problem with that! And will run into serious problems too...

Martin.

We have seen different statements from "Jim," apparently. The statement of "his" that you quote has me totally confounded. Out of backorder in a general sense but still in backorder in a different sense?

In any case, it's not terribly important. Our cameras will come when they come and many of us will have a long, long wait.

I have e-mailed Justin to find out directly what happened to the list. Hopefully, that mystery will end.

Yes! SO#2916 allocated (through Red Europe)!
Just as i hoped and planned, partly judging on the progress in the list and by the estimates given in this group.

Exciting!

Remember March is our big "out of backorder month" on most everything.. and everything is on track for that to happen... Including All versions of the Scarlets brains and packages and the Epic stages.

but don't expect too much. i got my allocation mail nearly 2 weeks before, but camera is still not shipping... might take a longer wait because of red europe... (import / tax)
